Oh, those crazy Russians… What do we know about them? Bears, vodka and black caviar? OK, that’s very interesting…but maybe you’ll be surprised to hear that they play host to one of the world’s biggest electronic music events too. Kazantip Republic takes place on the Black Sea coast of Crimea half-island every summer and takes place over an entire month — from the end of July till the end of August — and attracts more than 100,000 people from all around the globe.
Kazantip Republic has existed for over 18 years and can be easily compared with Ibiza or Burning Man. Like Ibiza there is a wide range of various parties in the open air 24/7 right by the sea! And like Burning Man there are many kinds of art projects, a community of crazy people. There is a space where they can totally express themselves: DJs, musicians and sound producers, video artists, designers, performers, freaks and beautiful girls.
Why Republic? Kazantip is a mythical republic which does not exist but it’s independent and sovereign. It has its own Basic Law, President, Government and citizens — kind, freaky people who are tired of normal ordinary life. There are more than 6 dancefloors, 30 bars and restaurants, 2 open air cinema halls, 3 kite stations and a huge number of architectural constructions which you can’t even imagine! Don’t forget about unbelievable light and sound — it looks like a giant spaceship at night.
You may have never heard of this imaginary Republic but Sven Vath, Dubfire, Timo Maas, Paul van Dyk, Armin van Buuren, Oliver Huntemann, Stephan Bodzin, James Zabiela, Robert Babicz and hundreds more well-known artists perform at Kazantip every year. In 2010 you can listen to: Carl Cox, Loco Dice, Ricardo Villalobos, Marco Carola, Guy Gerber, SIS, Vincenzo, Phonique, MANDY, Rhadoo, Raresh, Agoria, Chikago aka 1200 mics and more
Kazantip Republic (Z18) will take place from the 31st of July till 21st of August 2010.
