The MS Stubnitz is a ship, a former fish trawler of 80 metres long and originates from Rostock Germany. The Stubnitz has been rebuild to a unique, autonomous, travelling art and culture platform. The ship offers a complete functioning infrastructure and is furnished with facilities as an audio- and videolab, a dark room, a computerlab, a grafic workshop, a printlab, living accomodations, three larger public spaces (of which 2 are connected to the upper outside decks) and a metalworkshop. The MS Stubnitz offers a chance to cultural organisations, arts initiatives and artists to develop and present their work. One of the main goals of the MS Stubnitz is to conduct research within cultural and subcultural circuits and to document this. The MS Stubnitz resides in a port for a certain period and co-operates with local initiatives, organisations and individual artists; this co-operation results into an arts-program. The permanent crew of the MS Stubnitz consists of 12 persons. The MS Stubnitz is an international non profit organisation, in which everbody takes responsibility for a part of the organisation or the maintenance of the ship. The crew has the disposal over a wide knowledge and experience on artistic and business areas.
