Formerly the Blue Ice Bar, The Shelter is a lightly renovated bomb shelter that plays host to some of Shanghai's grittier club nights. The entire space is carved out of stone, and the main room sits deep underground at the end of a long tunnel with a low ceiling and uneven walls. The oblong dance floor leads to a set of three tunnel-shaped seating areas, all with leather couches and curved, tiled walls. Hip-hop is the most common style of music at The Shelter, though house and techno parties are not uncommon. Drinks are cheaper than at most Shanghai clubs.
