Forte Prenestino in Rome is a 19th-century fortress complete with moat and a warren of underground tunnels leading to the central area or 'Cathedral'.
it's not a classical club and not even a simple squat, is rather a self-funding arts collective housing the wierd and wonderful in the worlds of theatre, the arts and music.
DJs fill the cavernous rooms with techno, house, drum & bass and other grooves.
Within the fortress there are tattoo and piercing parlours, exhibition spaces, cinema screens, places to eat and drink. An arts festival is held here in the spring and, when the weather is fine, concerts are performed in the courtyards.
