Biography of Alphabet City | | | Real name / | Rob Fahey | | Moniker(s) / | Alphabet City, Blacklodge |
In the space of 2 action-packed years, Rob ‘Alphabet City’ Fahey has gone from a relative unknown to producer in-demand. It’s all thanks to a string of essential releases for the likes of Traveller Records (the fantastic ‘Lowdown’), Kojak Giant Sounds (an excellent double A side of lo-slung disco edits), Fred Everything’s Lazy Days Recordings , Under the Shade and more recently on his own imprint Much Love.
April 2011 saw the release of his latest single, ‘Feels Like’, for Under The Shade, one of the most checked house/nu-disco imprints around. It comes backed with remixes from Toby Tobias and Downtown Party Network.
It was as a DJ that Rob first earned his stripes, becoming a leading light in the much-discussed Brighton disco revival through his legendary Black Lodge parties. A strictly ‘eyes down’ affair held in a hush-hush central Brighton basement, the monthly Black Lodge bashes are fast approaching legendary status. As a DJ, Rob flits effortlessly between boogie, acid, disco and Italo, keeping his eyes firmly set on the dancefloor at all times.
