Andrew Duke's Maiko (with remixes from Orlando Voorn, Solab, Joe Babylon, and Jay Riordan) out June 15 on Nice & Nasty via Beatport
some feedback received on Maiko:
-Maiko charted by Santiago Salazar, Denny Trajkov, DJ Mourad on Resident Advisor
-Erell Ranson (AW, Sula Muse, Itinerant): "Quality tracks, excellent stuff. Maiko is great, Solab's remix is the one for me!"
-Santiago Salazar (Los Hermanos, Motech, Rush Hour, Wallshaker): "Really digging Babylon and Voorn mixes. Babylon takes you
deep while Voorn's is for the head strong. Only Voorn can work finger snaps in a funky way"
-Denny Trajkov (Logos, Deepclass): "Real drama on the Joe Babylon remix. Love it!"
-Maxime Tanguay (Dialtone, Pertin_nce) "Its great!! thanks for sharing, dude. A very 'industrial' feeling, not like goth
industrial, more like machinery industrial. Keep them coming, I am all here for your stuff."
-Pete Grove (Thoughtless, Definitive): "Nice trax, man! For the maiko track, I'm loving the original & the Joe Babylon & the
Jay Riordan is the one I will probably play the most; ah yeah, nice layers! Aggressive without being abrasive. Nice work."
-Phrek (6ONE6, Wallshaker): "Solid selections there; Deep pulse on the Joe Babylon Remix; Dig dem uptempo elements in the
Solab joint; Voorn's ethereal overture is deep spacial and intriguingly random; Hard as Nails Mix is a solid track, beat heavy
and floor-oriented; Duke's Original is an extraordinary palette of sound - experimental, rhythmic and edgy."
-Anton Banks (The Vault, Primal Instinct, Legacy): "I really like the Maiko EP from start to finish. Quality tracks!"
-Jenifa Mayanja (Bu-mako): "Feelin' the Solab remix and the original mix. Would drop these two in my radio show."
-Grigoris Savidis (V.I.M.): "thanks very-very much for the Maiko single. Original is a dubby-electronica piece of art.
SOLAB's detroit remix is simply excellent; Detroitish quality one. ORLANDO VOORN remix is dark, deep n' dubby, and both
JOE BABYLON's and JAY RIORDAN's are also quality pieces of electronic music. Thanks once again for this quality stuff, mate."
-Tom Lown (Lost My Dog): "Joe Babylon remix is my favourite - nice, deep, and moody stuff."
-Sean-Michael Yoder (Vinyl Junkie): "Joe Babylon remix is super deep just the way I like it. Nice work on this single."
-Kazuumi Ishii (Electronic Directory): "Good package, good remixes. Solab rework has a great vibe I'm liking
it a lot. Orlando Voorn dub is solid and very good too."
-Area (Wave, Ethereal Sound, Fullbarr): "Thanks for sharing this with me! Solab's chordy version is certainly fitting the
Detroit mention, while Orlando's take is a surprise from him. The Joe Babylon remix is a strange kind of Statik Entertainment
meets Moodymann grinding rolling industrial vibe with menacing soul. The original is a new dubby direction and Jay Riordan's
is a tough one. All around strong release!"
-Tomi Chair (Nice & Nasty, Static): "Solab's remix of Maiko is very nice! Thank you for sending your good works!"
-Autodeep (Trapez, Love Hertz): "Babylon & Voorn mixes for us. Nice trippy stuff!"
-DJ Oxide (Jackhouse): "Joe Babylon: Good deep atmospheric track, prob wouldn't play it but would listen to it and enjoy
it at home. Solab: Bit more moving for a deep house groove, like this a lot more. Orlando: A lil too stripped and minimal for
my tastes but the sounds are invigorating. Original: An original haven of sounds spattering about makes for a good listen
indeed. Jay Riordan: Good for the workout or returning to roots of pre industrial chaos; good stuff."
-Iron Horse (Pawn Shop): "Really cool tribal, psychedelic rhythm. definitely a mind-funk. a good package overall, with the
Voorn and Solab mixes standing out for me."
-Desy Balmer (Nice & Nasty): "Its hard to pick a favourite but Joe Babylon and Solab are top of the list with Solab maybe
being the pick of bunch. Jay Riordan’s mix is his best remix to date. Deadly release!"
-Ross McMillan (Seventh Sign, Lifeworld, Fizzy Duck): "Brilliant vibe!"
-Dr. Nojoke (Archipel, Leporelo): "Cool! New EP is awesome."
-Phasen (Nice & Nasty, U-Cover): "Immediately appealing; mysterious; oh shit!"
-Captain Random (Dublin Xpress): "Nice work.
-Nachklangmusik (Static, Dublin Xpress): "Absolutely awesome work on the Jay Riordan remix; reminds me of a phatt Drumcode!
Groovy shuffle techno."
-Mick Welch (Elektrosouls): "Good stuff."
-Jak (Subsensory): "Nice experimental vibes."
-Richie Hartness (Untitled Music): "Minimal tech with a nice and nasty vibe (how fitting!) - seriously though the release has
a few minimal tracks that paint futurists shapes in your mind. The Jay Riordan Hard As Nails Remix takes a full on main floor
direction and whips up a storm of tech house meets truancy vibes. Personally I'm loving the Joe Babylon Remix - a mellower
mood, with dramatic strings and a hypnotic baseline. A distant vocal touch beckons you into the sound, which never loses that
dark, menacing vibe."
-Jamie Behan (Bastardo Electrico, Subject Detroit): "Really digging the Solab and OV remixes on here. Both will work in
different settings. Solab is really uplifting and I will be playing this in more house orientated sets while Orlando gets all
dark, deep, while still remaining funky as hell. Will be playing this for sure!"
-Anton Zap (Uzuri, Ethereal): "Solab version is for me. Thanks."
-Jason Skilz (Spins & Needles): "Nice track! Good groove and good amount of drama and sounds. Love this stuff."
-Fine Cut Bodies (Chi): "Nice pack of deep techno cuts! Cheers."
-Catalepsia (Synewave, Metis, Nice & Nasty): "Jay's remix is awesome as usual, Joe Babylon is in my 'box' too."

Canada's Andrew Duke moves from Irish label Dublin Xpress to big boy of Irish techno, Dublin Xpress and brings some heavy hitters from Detroit with him as the Canadian-Irish-Japan-Detroit, USA network at Nice & Nasty grows from strength to strength.
During 2008 and 2009 Andrew Duke recorded some hot remix action for Irish based Nice & Nasty. Duke best known for his radio show and blog Cognition Audio Works has a prolific history of quality techno music making. Duke hails from Halifax, deep in Nova Scotia province of Canada. He makes a hybrid of funky minimal techno and melodic Detroit techno - think Andy Vaz, Terrence Dixon, Surgeon, Claude Younge, Daniel Fritschi, Black Dog and more.

Duke joins fellow Canuck's Tomas Jirku and Rennie Foster to the ranks of Nice & Nasty. Previously Duke remixed Mick Chillage, Tomi Chair and Catalepsia for nice & Nasty whilst for its' sub label Dublin Xpress remixed Stefano Vozza and Eight Minus Eight and as a result signed trax Carnival, Maiko and Ghiesa to DXR.

Carnival appeared on Dublin Xpress Volume two and is set to be released in January 2010 with remixes from Mick Chillage, Joaquin Phunk & Tom Barcley, Tomi Chair; however, after signing the Japanese feminine inspired Maiko and Ghiesa and dropping remixes from K-Hand, Jay Riordan and others, Andrew Duke and Nice & Nasty are very pleased that Duke will be leaving DXR for the lofty realm of its parent label Nice & Nasty with Maiko remixed by Orlando Voorn and Gheisa remixed by Terrence Dixon and Claude Younge.

Right now nice & nasty have music out by Rennie Foster, mark O'Sullivan and T-Polar and have new music from Andrew Duke, Lackluster and Itokim planned for early 2010 continuing with the labels growth in the past two years from a local concern to an international concern thanks to superb music from Terrence Dixon, Chymera, Tr-One, Orlando Voorn, Marco Bernardi and now Andrew Duke.
