Biography of Audio Creeps | | | Real name / | Dan Burton | | Moniker(s) / | Dan Burton, The Elusive Dj, RandomDoug |
The Audio Creeps is a musical collective of The Elusive Dj, Dan Burton of the Bass Pirates, and Random Doug that started mid 2009. Having gigged together often, they decided to team up and creep their way onto the production game under the flag of Rapid Fire Records, Freaks Culture Records, and Don’t Look Productions. Here’s all the deets on the boys that are the Audio Creeps.
THE ELUSIVE DJ
The Elusive DJ started listening to electronic music at a fairly early age, at around 13 years old having interest in House music and eventually Trance. Attending local Toronto clubs hearing dj’s such as Paul Oakenfold, A-Trak, Andy C and others. The hook was instant, from the heavy bassline to the mid synths to the high hats there was an instant connection with big room sounds.
This eventually lead to Elusive starting to get into DJ’ing by first using Traktor 2.0 and his first midi controller, the X-Session EVO by M-Audio. The move forward was inevitable soon he purchase turntables, a mixer and Torq vinyl control software. It did not end there however.
After watching many youtube videos and seeing how some mashups were created in Ableton, Elusive decided to start working to create mashups. The most notable being Beastie Boys vs. Bass Kleph – Intergalactic Coup D’etat (Hook & Sling vs. Elusive Remix) having airplay on renowned international shows such as the Ministry of Sound Sessions.
The production only evolved from there, quickly moving to creating tracks from scratch with his first EP release being Mind over Matter on Don’t Look Productions.
Having upcoming releases with artists such as Tim Patrick, Matt Gracie, SubFractal and having worked with such artists as The Bass Pirates, Audio Creeps, Guy Michael, Anthony D’Amico and the ability to work in the studio with any music style, Elusive is growing as a rising star of the underground House scene.
DAN BURTON (BASS PIRATES)
First and foremost an enthusiast to all that is house, Dan is one of Toronto’s most promising up and coming DJ’s. Raised in Toronto, he was immediately immersed into a diverse, and very individualistic culture. When he was 8 years old he was given his first musical instrument, the bass guitar, and immediately knew he was going to be doing something with music in his future. By his mid teens he had continued to grow and grasp new concepts into music, and studied music theory both in and out of the classroom environment, developing a deep love of complex rhythms and nuances, and specifically gained interest in jazz and punk rock. One should take notice at his ability to pursue and make ideas become reality- 50 Shades of Red, a punk rock quintet influenced heavily by bands such as the Distillers, Bad Religion, Anti Flag, and bands not found in mainstream culture, (Dan’s First band) ended up being one his most successful ventures, playing all of Toronto’s hottest rock clubs including The Big Bop, The Docks, Koolhaus just to name a few- by the ripe age of 16. In such a performer was born, and Dan has been playing live shows ever since, whether as a bass player, or DJ in the Toronto club circuit.
With his integral blends of techno and tech house influences, Dan knows how to work a crowd. Having worked the Toronto bar/ lounge circuit, Dan is eager and ready to move on to the bigger stage. Being in close environments with DJ’s Nathan Barato, Cam Maxwell, George William, El Duran, Paranoid Jack, Tim Patrick, Iron Mike, Anthony D’Amico, Julien Loreto and others - just to name a few- he has quickly progressed in the electronic music community.
Dan is not a rookie in the music industry, he works as a full time producer and Recording Engineer, as well as a touring musician, he knows what to do on the decks,
how to work a crowd and to get them excited.
Currently Dan has merged together with Kurtis Pro-Tek, another progressing tech house dj coming from a well established gigging background; including international locations in Punta Cana and the Dominican republic; to form the Bass Pirates duo in late 2008. The two of them have been quickly gaining a reputation for ripping up dancefloors all over the College street lounge circuit, and are quickly becoming a strong tech house entity in Toronto.
His most recent endeavor has teamed him up with The Elusive DJ, and Random Doug to form the Audio Creeps, and has been creeping his way into the production game on Rapid Fire Records, Freaks Culture Records, Don’t Look Productions, and Omerta records.
RANDOMDOUG
Toronto based DJ RandomDoug is a classical piano/bassist turned electronic producer and dj. His taste for the unknown and skills as a musician inspire him to take the spirit of live music and improvisation into every performance. In one of the most vibrant electronic scenes in North America, Randomdoug has quickly established himself as one of the up and coming talents as a techno, tech house, and house dj. Randomdoug has played at Toronto’s premier venues such as Film Lounge, The Guvernment and Lily Resto Lounge and The Boom Boom Room (Windsor, ON) just to name a few. He has performed alongside some of the industry’s most respected electronic artists and dj’s including Greg Gow, Paranoid Jack, Matt Herdman, Justin James, Julien Loreto, DJ Bliss, Ovi M, Neno, Anas Attia, Anthony D’Amico, Iron Mike and The Bass Pirates.
A fetish for bass heavy pulsating sub textures, funky highs, dubbed-out effects, and long teasing blends, RandomDoug hijacks your mind on an impulsive journey on the dancefloor, and keeping the crowd wanting more.
Currently his recent endeavor has brought him to team up with the Elusive Dj, and Dan Burton of the Bass Pirates to form the Audio Creeps under the production flag of Rapid Fire Records, Freaks Culture Records, and Don't Look Productions.
