LWE caught up with Aybee to talk about Deepblak, the perils of accessibility and why his label mates are more like brothers than musical peers. He also provided us with our 101st exclusive podcast, an intimate collection of past and future Deepblak classics that will slowly rush over you like a rising tide.

Working with a vast range of genres from avant-garde to experimental jazz and soul, Deepblak Recordings is the progressive music project fronted by maverick producer/visual artist Aybee. Repping for Blaktroniks, Afrikan Sciences, Ethil and Huxley, this is the D-i-Y record label that only invests in DJs and artists it truly believes in.... > More http://i-donline.com/2011/08/d-i-y-records-deepblak/

Thee Ron Trent was in town this past weekend to get down with Damon Bell at his Loose Joints party in SF. A fantastic opportunity to hear some great music delivered by one of the masters of the Art, and get in some sorely need catch up time/building. When Ron comes to town it’s never a problem getting the Jedi Council together as heads know this will be one of the few opportunities to conjure the electromagnetic frequencies that are needed for sustenance. With laser precision Ron delivered.

A few highlights from Afrikan Sciences Record Release Party at Siete Potencias Africanas Gallery in San Francisco. Massive Love & Respect to ALL who braved some pretty terrible weather to come out and share some time & space with us. Along with the Celebration of Afrikan Sciences “Means and Ways” album it was also our 1st LIVE performance so I am doubly humbled, and grateful for the turnout.

I emerged from the Deepblak Hall of Science to catch Mark De Clive-Lowe and Sy Smith torch thePeople in Oakland. Then off to the City to catch UQ Fam Levon Vincent (NYC) make his SF Debut. All with the backdrop of a starlit sky and a 60 degree night. One for the books…
