Being geographically placed in an area absent of any interest in this kind of music, the Staffordshire moorlands couldn’t, and didn’t nurture a developing love of electronic music. It instead drove Benedict to the surrounding cities where he re-rooted himself musically, more specifically in Manchester.

It was in Manchester that he began to regularly attend Development club nights and eventually collaborated with co-pomoter and DJ Tom Lynch (Tomson). After his debut release ‘Hit Shorts’ on Camio Recordings in September 2009, Tomson & Benedict collaborated on a remix project for NY Soul Records with their Voodub of ‘Russelology’ by dutch broken beat outfit Flowriders. This was swiftly followed up with a subsequent remix of ‘Failure to Communicate’ by New York producer Ronnie Ron on the same label.

Alongside a number of solo and joint original productions, Tomson & Benedict released their third remix collaboration, taking on ‘The Way We Were’ by The Pepita Project features vocals by legendary Chicago vocalist Paris Brightledge, which dropped in January 2010 on Austria’s Pep Sounds.

Having being noticed by some of the big guns such as Jimpster and Deetron, Tomson & Benedict's first solo project was signed to Freerange Records. The EP titled 'Rainy Things' dropped in August featuring a remix by Jimpster himself.

A further release in 2010 on Development Music and a remix for Tone Control set Benedict up for a busy 2011, which in it's first quarter already see's a further 4 original releases on labels Hudd Traxx, Kolour, Urban Torque and a collaboration with South Africa's Bantu Soul.
