Biography of Casino Times | |
It is not often that an artist can be defined by such a distinctive sound whilst still maintaing a varied and extremely open minded approach to music production and DJing.
No two of their tracks are too similar, yet somehow you will be sure you are listening to a Casino Times song before it reaches the chorus.
Their productions sit so comfortably on that precarious boundary that so many artists struggle to sit; while they are emotionally charged they are also extremely dance floor friendly and are as fun as they are provoking.
The boys are quickly gaining a reputation as knowledgeable, eclectic and talented djs, as in their productions, their DJ sets still manage to strike that emotional chord whilst keeping those feet stomping and those bootys bouncing, leaving achey armed crowds of smiling faces behind them. This skill has earned them a residency at Corsica Studios flagship night 'Tief' where they have played along side the likes of Morgan Geist, Todd Terje, Hunee, Omar S but to name a few as well as consistent string of dates from Bristol to Berlin.
You will probably have first have heard of Casino Times when their incredibly catchy Chaka Khan-sampling future classic 'Thats the truth' which was labeled by many as the 'tune of the summer' in 2011was being played, blogged, posted and charted by everyone and their mums nearly two years ago before Sccucci Manucci had the sense to release it, selling out in just about every outlet. The hands in the air track gained play by many highly regarded taste makers including Jamie XX, Wolf & Lamb, Bicep and Solomun (who included it in his Watergate mix CD released in April).
The release was quickly followed up by a succesful release on French boutique label 'Anchor Factory' along with a remix of Jozifs 'Twilight' ft. Terri Walker, a slightly darker remix of Greymatters Wolf Music classic 'Give it to me slow' and an uplifting, melodic remix of Totally enormous extinct dinosaurs 'Tapes & money' on Polydor all displaying the versatility the boys possess.
2013 looks to be even more exciting for the duo with their first, much anticipated EP due out on Needwant records, putting them on the same books as Robert Owens, Maxxi Soundsystem, Nicholas and Mark E.
There are also plans for releases on Wolf Music as well as collaborations with some very exciting artists so keep you ears to the ground!
