CHARLOTTE MICHELLE 11th – DJ & PRODUCER
The first time Charlotte stepped up to a set of decks she picked up the skill of beat matching instantly. She hasn’t stopped DJing since. A naturally musical child she forced her mum to take her to dance classes, whilst she was always glued to the radio and obsessed with new music. By her early teens she was playing guitar and studying music theory, and then moved on to both piano and flute. However it was when she discovered dance music, in the clubs and festivals around her home town of Bratislava, that she found her sound. It wasn’t long before she headed for London’s vibrant club scene at just 19.
Charlotte’s natural ability on the decks helped quickly secure her a series of bookings on London’s underground scene. She wisely invested her DJ fees further into her education, taking a DJ course at Point Blank, and then studying Sound Design and Music Technology at University of Arts London. This dedication has paid off as her career has continued to grow.
She won 2010’s Techscover DJ competition; her DJ bookings have gone international with sets at festivals and clubs from Slovakia to New York; whilst she has also impressively played alongside established artists like Tiefschwarz, Claude Von Stroke, Oliver Huntemann, and Marc Romboy. In her adopted home of London she has secured two residencies in recent years, at the respected underground parties Tape and Jaded, which have not only helped develop her sound but also steadily grow her reputation as a DJ to watch out for.
Charlotte has a deep, warm, dark tech house sound, which she likes with added vocals or keys, and a deep kick. She’s one of those DJs that you enjoy watching as well as listening to, because her natural energy adds to the connection with the music. Being the pro-active natural musician that she is, it was only a matter of time before she found her way into the studio.
She is now working on a number of productions to follow up her first two releases ‘Afterworks’ and ‘Inspired’. Always looking to learn and grow she is focussed on working towards an album project and developing ideas to enhance her sets by playing live. With her talent and ambition, and as part of the increasingly respected Ifidota label, there is clearly much to look forward to from Charlotte Michelle 11th.
