Biography of Chrom | | | Real name / | David D. Chrom |
With his selector-mate, Crimson, who’s known as the other half of the IKZ duo, he’s a frequent guest on the Cökxpon Ambient Festivals, and on other contemporary multicultural actions too, where he puts together the ingredients to his proper noise-collages from his unfailing eclectic repertoir, which contains ambient, dub, post-punk, new-wave, minimal and tech-house sounds. Started from the mouseonmars-like idiotism, winding from Bowie, trough the 70’-80’ neurotic romantica, he finally settled down by the schizophrenic line of the modern minimalistic sound. He feels massive respect for Freude Am Tanzen, Traum, Roxy Music, Tyrant, More Down Than Out, Un/Foundsound, Mo’s Ferry Prod., Philpot, Alphahouse and for Ricardo Villalobos. This lining typifies not only his DJ-sets, but his own produced tracks too. Serious pop music in hectic, vibrating style, demoniac gags… mini disko. Since the November of 2005, with stooges Crimson and Isu, Chrom spins his records every second Friday on the minimal and dance centralized Lick the Click! series. Anyway, his name worth watching – you can never tell where you’ll meet Chrom with his devilish smile behind the decks…
