"deep and funky, head and shoulders above the competition, serious skill" - DJ Mag
THE BACKGROUND - Sankeys:
An enigmatic character having appeared from apparently nowhere to land a monthly, main room residency at hallowed Manchester club Sankeys, Clark Kent honed his skills spinning with the finest in the business including the likes of:
Paul Woolford
Smokin Jo
Chris Duckenfield
Oliver Huntemann
Mike Monday
Jamie Anderson
Panorama Bar’s Margaret Dygas
THE PRESENT – For No Reason & Rejekt (Berlin):
As so often happens in clubs such as Sankeys his talents did not go unnoticed and after having spent several years playing there he accepted an offer that both financially and artistically he could not refuse, moving on to become a partner in one of the North West's most exciting new underground concepts, "For No Reason", a night where he can freely explore the deeper side of house and techno whilst further refining his sound in front of a more than appreciative audience. Whilst at For No Reason Kent has played alongside:
Matthias Tanzmann
Jamie Jones
James Priestley (secret sundaze)
Shane Watcha (Zombies Ate My Brain)
Geddes (Murmur/Mulletover)
Burnski (Dessous/Basics)
Subb-an (Below/Immigrant Recs)
A new residency at Rejekt in Berlin commenced in March 09 where Kent played alongside Berlin favourite Falko Brocksieper (Substatic/Karloff)
Musically the Kent philosophy is as such – sultry house and cool techno, deep yet energetic, splicing warm, jacking grooves with unearthly, electronic sounds. A typical Clark Kent set will weave effortlessly between sub genres, emotively caressing the crowd one minute and deftly providing a punch the next.
PACHA IBIZA:
It is an approach that works – this summer Kent attracted the attentions of the internationally renowned DJ Magazine who, being the aficionados that they are, spotted his talents and very kindly landed him a gig at Pacha in Ibiza, a perfect forum for his sultry style.
Barely halfway through his set Kent was being re-booked for the coming season.
“1nce again, thanks for a great set!” – Andy Baxter, Pacha Ibiza
“We’ll get you back next year” – Mark Netto, Pacha Ibiza
Having been bred with a rich pedigree Kent retains a selective approach to where he plays, knowing that his sound and reputation rely on quality audiences passionate about their house music. Throughout 08 Kent played all over the UK and internationally at renowned clubs and events such as:
Pacha in Ibiza
Basics in Leeds
Stealth in Nottingham
Sankeys in Manchester
Gatecrasher Summer Sound System in Northampton
Wickerman in Dumfries, Scotland
