Dj La Carotte / Da Carrot.

Born in 1975 in Paris.
ex graffiti artist
chilhood with : soul, funk & disco music.
He discovers the Hip Hop culture in 1984
in movies as:
"Wild Style, Style Wars & Colors"

and the artists:
"GrandMasterFlash, Herbie Hancock, The rock Steady Crew, Kurtis Blow, Africa Bambaataa"

& the Books such: 'Spray can arts' & 'Subway art'.(from Martha Cooper & Henry Chalfant),
with the Kingz of Graffiti as:

'Dondi, Lee & Pink, Futura 2000, Seen,Bando,Mode'2',etc...

'Talking about New York Graffiti art'.


'Time came to love street art'.


In 1987,he starts the Graffiti and looks after more and more music and mix with djs:
'Dee Nasty & Crazy B'( Hip-Hop leader in France) playing on 'radio Nova'.

'Time he bought his first vynil LPs.


On year after in 1988, he discovers the new beat & the acid house music with tracks as:

'Thème from the S-Express' from Mark Moore a.k.a (S-Express),
'Jack to the sound of the underground' from Peter Slaghuis a.k.a (HitHouse),
'Good Life & Big Fun' from Kevin Saunderson a.k.a (Inner City,Reese).


'Falling in love with HIP HOP music'.


In 1991, he discovers the first electronic shop in Paris as:

Champs disques,USA Import,BPM,TSF
& The firsts clubs who plays electronic music in Paris as:
(Le Cirque, le Central, La Loco, le Palace & le Privilège), just after the closing of *BOY.
*(first club playing new beat music in Paris).

He buys some vinyls EPs and decide to start in this move.


In 1992 Da Carrot 'La Carotte' starts his career in the capital underground raves.
he's playing hard techno which is not yet Hardcore.
Like Labels as:

R&S,Dance Extasy,Rotterdam rec,Kickin,or XL recordings.

'Belongs to electronic hardcore French stage pionners'.


In 1993, it's hardcore explosion.

He goes ahead playing deutch and german hardcore :(GABBER).

He becomes one of the leaders in this style of music in France.

Very quickly he gets an audience and decides to take them in Holland,
organizing trips with 'take no system' and '4A'for the events :
HELLRAISER,THUNDERDOME,MYSTERYLAND.


In 1994, he starts his first production.

He creates, the Famous Crew and hardcore label:
G.T.I. (Gangstar. Toons. Industry)

With 'Kingsmoke, Kirin ,Atomic Compressor'...

They decide together to create a new style ,mixing all their influences:

(Hip Hop, Break-Beat, Metal & Dance music), with:
samples from movies and French voices in the Hardcore / GABBER version ,
all mixed between 120 and 250 BPM.

They create their first vinyl Album 'GTI 001'
(this is the first electronic French hardcore album in France).
'It was so successful in the underground hardcore world'.

G.T.I. played and playlisted by: 'Lenny Dee, Liza N' Eliaz , Dj Freak, Dano,Pure, Speed Freak, Rob Gee', etc..

& influences artists as: Alec Empire or Loftgroover.


In 95, Da Carrot more and more present on most important raves in Paris and in France.

He keeps going with producing with GTI and participate to the production:
RPG 7 Rec a GTI divison with : 'Liza N' Eliaz' (R.i.P):' 90's Hardcore Queen'.


In 97, because his technic and energy on stage, he becomes the
leader of Gabba music in France. He works with Premium
production (event & concept producer) in Paris, and starts to
export himself in Holland and Belgium in festivals &
Club as: 'Shadowland' or 'The Cherry Moon'.
Then he joins the team 'ID&T' in Holland
(Thunderdome concept & Mysteryland)
and represents them in France.


In 98, he creates 'The Blood brothers' band with :
Kirin and the killers clowns (GTI members)
Together they create and produce the label:
*I. F.S 'The incredible Funny & Sly' Rec
(style:Gabber/newstyle)

*Listed 4 stars in 'Thundermag' from(NL).


In 99, he joins:Break Beat entertainement (under Sony label )
whitch takes Thunderdome management in France,participates
to events and French tour in the best club as:
Le Macumba(Ch),Le caesar Palace(Mulhouse),l'Etoile(Metz),La Loco(Paris),
La Nitro( Montpellier),Le KL(Toulouse),Le Titan(Lyon),Le News(Nantes)...
with: 'Buzz Fuzz, The Prophet , X ess, Promo,3 Step Ahead (R.I.P)' from (NL).

Then gradually slows down BPM and goes to Hard house music, Chicago techno and break beat.
he creates'DAZZLING CREW'association Loi 1901,with 'Dj Tof :Psy4X' (Dj & friend from his generation)

They organize some parties in Paris,Lyon,Strasbourg &Nancy with a more or less
hard sound , more eclectic, mixing:
break beat,hardhouse,techno,and old-skool.


In 2000, Da Carrot come back to his first influences Hip Hop & Soul music.

He creates some tracks 'break beat/Hip-Hop'and make differents RMX for : MKO
recordings (under label of HomeCore) with Kirin.
Then, he goes to Strasbourg (East France) and goes to techno stage.
In the East & North France,he plays in several famous clubs & Party as:
L'anfer@(Dijon),L'Usine@(Metz),le Terminal Export@(Nancy),LaLaiterie@(Stasbourg),
le Yalta@(Surebourg),le Grillen-Kraken@(Colmar)etc...


In 2001 he plays Techno & still Hardcore on festivals as :

'GOLIATH (CH), MYSTERYLAND (NL), Labels of the Universe (CH),...

Gets in touch with Wagram Music with whom he launches some tracks.

Then he decides to launch again Thunderdome market in France
(after 1 year and a half away),
he creates '100% Gabber' with Wagram music
(13000 CDs sold + TV commercial);

Results were correct but Wagram doesn..t want to launch a number 2 CD.


In 2002, he stop really the Hardcore and stay in the Techno ;'Because more groove'.

He leaves Strasbourg for Paris again.


In 2003, he joins the parisian crew Audiovenum creates by:
'La Pieuvre & San'(friend from his generation)specialised
in Drum & Bass and breaks;

They organize together some underground party in Paris at:
La Flèche d'or,La Grange à musique,le Glazart,Le Tryptique,etc...
mixing up: hip hop, Break-Beat , Techno & Drum & Bass
style.


In 2004 ,goes away from stage to produce again, signs some
tracks: hardstyle for the fun & hardcore for EMI and WAGRAM
and goes to more techno & break beat compositions.


In 2005/2006, he plays again in Paris & elsewhere in club or Party as:
the Parkhaus (De),the Batofar (Paris), the Tryptique (Paris),Glaz'art,
Techno Parade (Paris) or the famous Party: 'PLAY' in Paris...

In 2007, Dj La Carotte 'Da Carrot' back in studio for more production Techno,B.more & Electro.
He stop the Mix one time ,because the club & events was too minimal or Rock for him!!

In 2008,Dj La Carotte change this french name for 'Da Carrot'; it's same,but more fresh & international!!
Then, he goes to the Fidget & Jackin House & Electro!
he joins the Crux Crew founded by Bryan Cox & make many remix for Crux records.

In 2009 Da Carrot is making a name in the Electro house & Fidget and continues to sign many remix for Crux.
and work with different labels as: Tharsis rec, OMFG,Crude Trax, FilthyBitch...
and ultra records prestigious label from U.S.

'Technically and culturally strong, he's one of the
best french electronic Dj of his generation'.


Named : the French 'Dark Raver '(NL) middle of the 90's in
Paris, or 'Bioman' in the East of France in 2000.

The style of Da CARROT IS: Fat,colored,energic and full of life' with always a touch Oldskool.

He's a real technician and showman, Always ready to light the fire.


Now still working , he play a groovy music Happy or strong but more Club 'always Dance Floor'.
