The Interview:
1. You were born in Italy but raised in Buenos Aires, give us a quick low down of your background.
Actually, I wasn't born in Italy, although my grandfather was born quite close to Rome, and came to Argentina when he was a little kid. So we basically do have Italian passports/citizenship. I had a very Italian education (I went to an Italian school in Buenos Aires), I speak the language and went there many times, it's a beautiful place and I love their food. So I guess at the end of the day I'm a mix of Italian and Argentinean. I was living for a bit in San Francisco when I was a teenager as well. So lets add a little bit of that too I guess.
2. For a few years now you have been coming to Berlin for half the year and then escaping the cold winter and going back to Buenos Aires for the other half of the year. How does living between Buenos Aires and Berlin influenced your music?
I think it does definitely influence my music. I'm able to access a lot of information and connect with a lot of people by doing this. Then there's my label, Igloo, generating a musical synergy between both sides.
3. What were your musical influences when you were growing up?
First love were The Beach Boys, The Beatles. Then lots of 60's music…then the 90's came and I fell in love with other things like Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, Blur, The Cure. I started listening to electronic music at the end of the 90's…discovering stuff like Underworld, Chemical Brothers, Air, and one of my biggest influences: the label Warp Records.
4. We have heard you are returning to Berlin in May, do you have any plans show cases planned for your label Igloo in Europe already?
Not yet, though for sure there will be like always! we had a really epic Igloo night last summer at the Bar 25! was really cool.
5. You also have a few aliases, can you tell us a few things about those and also what are your future releases that are coming out?
A new Elephant Pixel album called "Ave Glitcha" will be released on a label from San Francisco called Two Circles.
Monotax will release a new EP of disco-funk-house on Igloo Pop and hopefully a new album soon too.
Also new stuff from my project with [a]pendics.shuffle coming out soon on 2 cool labels….I'm including in the set some exclusive cuts from this next releases.
Just came out a new EP of Dilo vs Gurtz on Chicago's label Klectik.
