already at a very young age, simon emerson kidder marched to a different tune. he wanted to become a hedonistic musician instead of a prince in the sand pit. the breaking idea came to him at the very young age of 16 when he – for the first time – went to a rave sponsored by the local techno–mag sucker.

in the beginning of his career, emerson put on breakbeat records in small clubs in his hometown south of germany. being a diligent and persistent nature, he worked his way through various clubs until he finally made it to one of munichs topspots - the ultraschall. there he immediately won the crowd at his first gig and was directely reinvited to his next one. That's where he met holgi star, dj from the major techno – capital berlin. and just like that – emerson was promptly offered to join the tours of the timing & bash labels throughout germany.

still, from the beginning it has been emersons motto not to rest on his laurels and to
always keep his ears to the street. putting on music, he would not simply stay with
breakbeat but instead he discovered techno and later-on the slower house adapted
variants of electronic dance music. this great mixture of sounds still distinguishes emerson's fresh and modern style of music .
his reputation spread like a wildfire and it very soon opened the doors to many important techno clubs in germany, such as the casino or sternradio in berlin and the prinzip club in munich, where he became resident dj.
during the hot summer months he played the long and neverending sundays in the garden of the berlin casino. the positive side effect:
it enabled him to constantly work on his signature sound. and because success does not rest in its hometown, it went on and on – from berlin to the big cities in germany and further, to ibiza, sao paulo, tokyo, miami and many cultural centres in eastern europe where people are starving for electronic dance music.

although by now emerson got used to flying from one big city to another, he still likes it
best to put on music in berlin after all. here he just feels most comfortable, deeming
berlin his artistic home. here he is also surrounded by producers, djs and fans with whom he gets along best, not only in regard to interpersonal relationships but also relating to the style of music. in the club emerson sees himself as a servant for the party and its audience , doing his best to guarantee a wonderful and exhausting night to the dancing crowd.
he does not want to be the centre of attention, who – with much boasting – boosts his own ego. as such, he actually still remains to be more of a fan than a professionally
calculating artist. someone, who loves and lives music and who wants to make other
people dance – it all comes down to simply being a discjockey.

for a long time now, it has not been sufficient for emerson to only depend on the music of others. that is why he and his friend holgi star built up their own musiclabel kiddaz.fm records. emerson just wanted to show what he thinks good music really is. in the years between 2001 until 2005 kiddaz.fm came out with over 50 releases and made it up to over 100.000 units sold, until emerson focused on new labels, such as micro.fon, freak waves and style rockets, last year. micro.fon is the home label for simple and more minimal techno music. In cooperation with dietrich schoenemann, emerson also runs the label freak waves located in new york city. the discography of this label contains such famous names as butane, luna city express, ruede hagelstein, williams or tim xavier.


in retrospect it all appears like a musical textbook career.
by now, emerson has released two own artist albums, currently working on the third one, two mix cds (boy got bass 3 has just been reocrded) and over 30 vinyl maxis and various remixes. in addition, he composed an own soundtrack for the hustler porn dj groupie the
movie and on and on it goes…

someone who is a dj, producer and a label manager at the same time does not simply make music, his life is music. other than that, there is only one more thing that emerson kept on to and this is sports, especially tennis. i make electronic music until i collapse and
i‘m in a very good shape. to emerson, sports offer the perfect balance to the often wild and excessive nightlife.

however, match partners in musical means are mostly artists, whom emerson has helped quite a lot boosting their career and to whom he feels very close: helmut dubnitzky, dave shokh or marcus meinhardt and many others. we can prepare
ourselves for a sound dose of emerson within the next coming years.
