Drehwerk is the final result of a passion shared by two brothers : Andreas and Sergej, who started together the Drehwerk project in 2006. Their first Vynil was released on september 2010 under the label Inclusion.

The young Sergej has come a long way since then ! And labels such as Vidab, Moodmusic, Mixx Records, Plastic City, Apparel Music or Houseworx have been witnessing the growing talent of the German artist.

Drehwerk brings us out BROKEN at the end of June, an EP Vinyl Only – just as we like it, under the label Memoria Limited. It takes its musical inspiration in house and techno music from Chicago, Detroit and Berlin.

As lover of tunefull and percussive music, you will surely be satisfied by Broken. Its three tracks melting dub, techno and deep house carry your soul and mind from intense estates of extasy to periods of soothing relief.

It is its story that Drehwerk tells us through this tracklist. It begins with Broken and its melancholy. Broken with its melody and entrancing bass gives voice to its authors sadness. Next one is Gun, it goes harder and sounds like a gunshot, as if anger was overflowing. Over is the end of the story, it soothes the way back from extreme feelings to normality.

Ep, release why should Drewherk stop here ? Spieldose – Man Down is a high level remix with a dub/techno rhythmic that they brillantly produced under the label Kopf Artefakt Recordings. The Brothers also participated to the elaboration of a compilation on Oliver Deutschman initiative for Slimag Magazine in partnership with great names of electronic music such as Moomin, Ed Davenport, Xdb or Christopher Rau. Needless to say that we can expect a subtle and eclectic work with such an amazing diversity of artist participating.

A lot more is still to come out under White Rabbit Music, Moodmusic or the brand new French label Ataraxie Records.

German DJ and producer Oliver Deutschmann has put together a two-disc collection called Futureworld, due for release in June.

The half-mixed, half-unmixed package is made up entirely of previously unreleased material by a variety of deeper house and techno artists, including Ed Davenport, XDB and Ron Deacon. Smallvillle favorites Christopher Rau and Moomin collaborate for the first time on a track called "A Place At Night." This track, along with others by Deutschmann and Milton Bradley of Do Not Resist The Beat, will also be available on a 12-inch due out shortly before the compilation. Buying the CD package also gets you a download link to a film called Futureworld; you can see the trailer for that one below.

Deutschmann is an active producer and DJ in Berlin, and the brains behind two labels, Vidab and Falkplatz. Futureworld is his first official mix. "All of the artists involved I have a personal relationship with and in lots of cases there's a link to my labels too so the selection wasn't too difficult for me," he says. The release also marks the launch of Slim Audio, the new label arm of Berlin multi-taskers SLIM, whose other exploits include a free local magazine, an online TV channel and a week-long music and arts festival.

Weiter geht es mit der Compilation-Reihe. Neuzugang im Vidab-Camp sind Drehwerk, die mit “Moody Strings” genau das umsetzen, was man sich vom Namen wünscht. Ganz und gar klassisch, keine Haken, kein Ausscheren, dabei aber so warm, tief und berechenbar funky, dass der Track jetzt schon eines der großen Highlights des noch jungen Jahres ist. Oliver Deutschmann wählt für “The Failure” einen ähnlichen Flirrfaktor, ist dabei aber deutlich zackiger und moderner organisiert, hat jedoch auch ganz eindeutig die lächelnde Sweetness im Blick: tiptop. Tomas Svensson holt sich für “116 Miles” Loganic ans Mikro und droppt einen dieser zeitlosen Tracks, die einfach immer releast werden können und auch müssen. Den fulminanten Abschluss liefert Stephan Hill, der tiefer gräbt, als jeder Goldsucher jemals gekommen ist. Killer-EP!

Sehr smooth beginnt die EP mit “Deep Love”, einem warmen Orgelstück mit tiefer Stimme, sanften Toms und fingerschnippender Lässigkeit, die alle Deephousefans verzücken dürfte. Perfekter Sommertrack für den Nachmittag, an dem alles stimmt. “Jazz 2 bazz” bringt eine Kontrabassbassline, deepen Swing, und eine Hintergrundstimme, die dem Track dennoch ein fast ambientes Flair verleiht. Der Remix von Chris Wood bringt ein wenig Acidstakkatovocals mit ins Spiel, aber die Originale sind es auf dieser EP, die überzeugen – wie auch das detroitig deepe “Musing”, das eine gewisse Zeitlosigkeit der Raveerinnerungen langsam aus dem hintersten Winkel seines kuscheligen Sounds holt. Kisk remixt das mit einer Bonusportion Dub, aber traut sich sonst kaum, viel zu ändern.
