Fabrice Dayan

Biography of Fabrice Dayan

Moniker(s) / Man Machine

Fabrice Dayan | Dancefloor Religion

What a journey the last couple of years have been for Fabrice Dayan. In a short amount of time he has broken into the tight knit Dance community, becoming a favourite among some of the world’s biggest DJs.
He lives and breathes music with an unparalleled passion that enables him to play clubs around the world. When behind the decks, he unleashes a mixture of sexy, underground beats with a unique Dirty Electro tinged House flavour.

The Son of the sun

Fabrice grew up in the sun drenched south of France.
He had a bohemian upbringing, surrounded by a family of artists, and was immersed in creative outlets from an early age, including graffiti, photography, and eventually music.

It was 1989 when he began collecting US Hip Hop and European New Wave, and honing his skills behind the decks. Hip Hop was also a growing phenomena in France and Fabrice was DJing with the crew that went on to become La Fonky Family, one of France's most successful and respected Rap collectives.
Nevertheless, Fabrice was open minded and kept his ear to the ground, which led him to a scene outside of the realms of rap and Hip Hop.

In 1991 the world was grooving to a new, electronic beat - techno and rave parties left a strong impression on Fabrice and the energy of these sounds, combined with the DJ's newfound power and status with the crowd, was right up his street.

Dancefloor Confessions

Fabrice always had a knack for finding a groove, thanks to the early influences of African American and British cultures. During this period he continued to enrich his record collection with various tracks from around the globe.

Possessing a penchant for the Avant-Garde, Fabrice brought and imposed club culture in the South of France, influenced by Parisian DJs such as Laurent Garnier. He secured various residencies on the Riviera from Aix en Provence to Saint Tropez, including The Trolleybus in Marseille in 1994 where he played alongside DJ Sneak, St Germain, Laurent Garnier, Paul Johnson , Roy Davis Jnr and most of the early godfathers of its Chicago scene. Interestingly, he was also on the decks when a small duo played live for the first time, their stage name - Daft Punk!
Fabrice also rocked Big Ben and the now legendary Bazar Club, where he shared the stage with Kojak, John Digweed, Sebastien Leger and DJ Pierre. Highlights of his residency at Bazar include opening for legends like Felix Da Housecat and Erick Morillo.

In 1997 Fabrice plays with David Guetta who is so impressed that he instantly promotes Dayan to a residency at the infamous Paris Club Les Bains Douches, and relocation to the French Capital ensues.
This residency lasts 'till 2003, along with appearances at other Parisian institutions like Vice & Versa Parties, Le Queen, Follies Pigalle and The Gibus, where he shares the decks with artists such as Steve Silk Hurley, Charles Schilings, Dax Riders, and Fafa Monteco. It was also during this period that Fabrice collaborated behind the decks with Martin Solveig, DJ Deep, Bob Sinclar, Claude Monnet and DJ Gregory - the crème de la crème of the French dance music scene.

Eclectic & Electric

Fabrice Dayan has got it goin' on, with guest spots on Fun Radio ,and spinning at various exclusive parties from the uber chic Museum Café, Jet Set and even Ministervo in Moscow, to George Michael and Sonia Rykiel's respective birthday bashes in Paris. Fabrice even makes an appearance in Brussels for the 10 year celebration of seminal techno club Fuse, alongside DJ Hell and DJ Pierre.

Wicked Working List

Paul Johnson labels him “the French Danny Tenaglia”, a compliment that Fabrice is constantly living up to. He founded Rockit in 2003, a bookings agency and events company throwing parties around the globe from the Resonance party in NYC to a yearly Winter Music Conference showcase in Miami, along with Radio Fg Headlines like Didier Sinclair, Phillipe B, Yass & Matt.
Later during the winter 2006, his dj and producer’s skills brings him as the headline of the official Deeper Substance Party In London, along with Andy C (Skylark), Ortzroka, Huw Lloyd, and Kid Dub.
Rockit enables him to support a sound he believes in, from booking underground favourites like Sebastien Léger and Alexander Robotnik, to showcasing labels like Yellow, Soulfuric and Defected, to name but a few.

2006 heralds a year of new priorities as Fabrice embarks on several new projects, namely his own production work and residencies at Addict Party @ Kong Paris, In Funk We Trust @ La Scene Paris, and Tribute To The City @ Wagg Paris. His foray into the studio includes remixing for other artists and creating original edits of his favourite tracks. He is presently working on 3 new records, all House inspired and with his unique electronic edge - definitely tracks to look out for in the future.

On the Party side, since 2007, Rockit invest two major trendy places in Paris, like Alcazar or Maxim’s.
Today's headline of L'Etoile Club in Paris, he invites and play along with Artists such as Miss Nine, Yves Larock, Niki Bellucci, Tom Novy etc ...

Playlisted by Laidback Luke, and supported by Roger Sanchez in his Release Yourself Radio Show, his Let It Go Track recieve in 2008 a massive support from the big names of the Dance Music Scene.
And if all this was just a beginning ?

So here we have it, the unfinished story of the man of many talents, Fabrice Dayan - DJ, Promoter, and Producer, but first and foremost, complete artist and music lover, early fan of Deep Electronic Music who is making waves on a scene that he is helping to reinvent!
