| Moniker(s) / | Fede Lijt / neurus |
Born in the Southamerican summer of 86, Fede Lijt became a globetrotter at just 3 days of age. His mother, an artist and founder of Punta del Este’s first cult underground club, introduced him to the world of clubbing and music at the tender age of 11 when his own home became that same club, “El Milagro”. At 17, life led him to Bahía, Brazil, where he became resident DJ at Taboo, another of the family’s clubs. Even before that, his experiments with creating loops and the use of simple production programs evolved into a love affair with music and creating it. His taste for all types of music, from Bossa Nova to Jazz, Detroit Techno and old school House, as well as a deep appreciation of analogue sounds and instruments has always, to this day, nurtured an impeccable and unmistakable style. This is also reflected in the commitment that playing only vinyl implies, something Fede does with pleasure, dedicating most of his time to the search for quality records. Right now, Fede calls Montevideo, Uruguay home and has played its greatest clubs, like Milenio, Red, W. Lounge and Lotus, along with festivals such as Free Xpression, Open Park and Circoloco and Monza parties. He’s extensively traveled the region, playing in Argentina and Brazil at places like Cocoliche, Wacha, Sky Tronich, Super Club, Zoe and Casablanca. Fede’s European debut was nothing less than headlining slots at Madrid’s Pura Vida festival and at Valencia’s Electrosplash festival. Since then, he’s had gigs in Ibiza -Underground, Monza, Zoo Project-, Amsterdam and Berlin -Bar 25-, sharing booths with Brett Johnson, Barem, Alexi Delano, Raresh, Radhoo, Petre Inspirescu, Xpansul, Franco Cinelli, Mau Mau, Monoblock, Nicolas Lutz, Mariano DC, Jonas Kopp and Frankie, among others. His own material has been supported by the likes of Juan Atkins, Brett Johnson, Barem, Cinelli and many more. A sample of this production been released with netlabels like GRHK and Immigrant Digital. Fede is now in the process of releasing more of his material under his own independent label, Abrazo Records. Abrazo means hug, something that alludes to how much this DJ values the friendships and authentic human ties his travels and music have led him to forge. Motivated, above all, by creating positive experiences and enriching his soul and his music through human relations, Fede Lijt is one artist whom we’ve yet to hear the last from.
