Biography of Flossy | | | Real name / | Mikey Gill | | Moniker(s) / | Mike Gill |
Having grown up around a huge variety of modern and old music, Mike Gill a.k.a. Flossy, was heavily inspired by early music from Chemical Brothers, Prodigy, Roni Size and a mass of old school hip-hop and Jungle artists.
His interest turned to house and garage around the turn of the Millennium, due to the ample pirate stations around North London including; Passion FM, Unknown FM and Y2K allowing local talent to play underground dance music across the airwaves day and night.
It was near the beginning of his interest in house and garage that Flossy took his previous knowledge of musical scoring to a computer based platform, using any music software he could get his hands on to create his own take on Garage and Jungle grooves. It was also around this time that he first started to DJ and play out at house parties.
He has now been producing for 10 years and has had remixes released on electro labels inc. ‘Southern Fried Records’ and ‘New State’ under the alias ‘Mike Fisher’.
His production interests of late however, have now turned to deeper, underground house and techno, taking interest from Labels such as; ‘Hot Creations’, ‘Wolf + Lamb’, ‘Crosstown Rebels’ and ‘Culprit’ to name a few.
With a few years of experience now under his belt, Flossy now plans to further his experimentation into Down-tempo Deep house and Disco, and hopes to have an album finished by next year.
You can catch Flossy DJ at his Monthly party RAISED at a number of locations around the East London area. |
