Funkslut is Christo Martinis. Born in Greece and raised in Munich, Germany, he had the chance to witness the rapid growth of techno and many other forms of electronic music in Germany. Back then a lot of partying went on in his hometown and like every other young fellow he could not miss the action. Those years played a major role in shaping his future career.

With an extensive music education and professional placement as an audio engineer, Martinis' lifes’ purpose was very clear to him. He started producing at an early age, although his music then had very little in common with his current taste. It was not until 1998 when he moved to Athens to engage in the opening of SAE Athens and became an active member of the local underground dance scene.

Working as a freelance producer/engineer and employed by SAE as the Audio / B.A. Coordinator, Martinis was inspired to start a personal project. In May 2002 on a short trip to Munich he founded the label Plasteline, which acts as a platform for underground music related activity of all kinds. His first release was somewhat of a test - a split e.p. together with Ekelon appearing on the label The Underground Connection.

Later that year Christo further expanded the project/company to Athens, Greece in order to promote local and international artists. With major support from his friends (especially Nightlight and Neu), a series of events took place, which helped to establish the name in Athens. Soon a collaboration of Funkslut and Nightlight would bring the project Mr.Bolek & Mr.Lolek to life. Many locals are still wondering where that bomb came from!

2004 saw him back in his hometown Munich where he engaged in various music projects (e.g. Noble Treat) until summer 2005. From that time his efforts have been solely dedicated to setting up Plasteline as a record label, which as you can see becomes flesh and bones at this very moment. Peace!
