GABBI LOPEZ


Gabbi Lopez's dj career started back in 1995, when he got his first gigs in a club called X-tema in north Portugal as well as gigs in the very famous Rocks & Enseada clubs the pioneer clubs in the local techno scene. From the dancefloor to the studio, in the same years Gabbi got his own radio show in a local station.
Influenced by many different places and sounds ( Detroit and Chicago as much as London and Berlin) and different genres (from classic house to techno, dub and minimal) in 1998, following an inner call, he decide to move to London.
Always with music on his thoughts, here he started to study Music Production at the university, as well as working part time in ‘Prime Record Store’ on Kensington Street. The job at the record store helped him building up a much stronger knowledge about music kinds and different styles. In the same year he got his first regular gigs starting at the infamous ‘Tony’s After Hours’ in Kings Cross, which was just the start of getting into London’s club circuit.
in 2003 Gabbi moved to Brick Lane in East London where he met Altino Fernandes. The two, founding in each other the same passion for music, started to work together and in 2004 they founded a collective called Brickbeat.
Brickbeat is a group of dj, vj and free thinkers sharing the love for the music beats and also is a well-known London's promotion, famous for bringing new talented artists and famous international guests to its parties.
With Brickbeat Gabbi and Altino begun their decennial residences at the famous Cafe`1001 in Brick Lane,Taken on a residency at Club Cafe 1001, where the parties transformed the space into one of the busiest in the neighborhood - full of "twelve-marathons cleanest house music and techno" (Mixmag). still on, and, at the same time, they started to throw parties and afterparties in basements (famous the one in Hanbury Street underneath a shop) and warehouses ( well-known Moroccan social club Alhambra). From here the step to the club was really small: Gabbi started to play in most of London's clubs (Fabric, Ministry of Sound, Pacha, Ministry of Sound, The End,The Egg and many more) as well as abroad (Spain, Portugal, Morocco, Poland, germany,Czech Republic, Latvia and more).
The urgency to transform his emotions in sound naturally led him to begin his own production. published under the umbrella label Wavetec in 2008 and in 2009 by Archipel, in the same year Gabbi, alongside Altino Fernandes and Rico Casazza, founded his own record label: Release Sustain.
Gabbi's remix of Boris Castro EP "Zoloft" on Release Sustain has been on Beatport chart 100 best minimal for over a month in August 2010.
Gabbi's style is stripped down techno, minimal and deep house. Funk-edged and dubby, you can't help but nod your head and tap your foot when he's on the decks.
His long deep and dynamic sets have made him a reference name with the East London party scene, and the shoreditch club community. On the dancefloor Gabbi can always catch the vibe of the night, giving to the audience what they expect and especially surprising them with what they would never expect, creating a unique feeling into the dancefloor and passing through the music emotions hard to forget.

During this years, Gabbi Lopez played alongside DJs such as, Derrick May, Joey Beltram, hardfloor, Francois K,stacey pullen, Terry Francis, rolando, Felix da Housecat, Eddie Richards, Jimpster, Dave Angel, Metro Area, tobias,nathan coles , jay tripwire, maceo plex,vince watson, hipp-e, Ed Davenport, Oliver Ho, Luke Solomon, Justin Harris, manik, inxec, leif, and many others
Working now on many projects, from his own production (new EP coming soon) to the growth of his label Release Sustain (new releases coming up),resident at cartulis day and also from many abroad gigs ) to new parties in London and abroad , always with the music in mind and soul.
