Biography of Geddes | | | Real name / | Stuart Geddes | | Moniker(s) / | Rekleiner |
Geddes is one of the true pioneers of the London house scene. Among those ahead of the game when it came to the fragmentation of the super club and the dawn of a new warehouse era, Geddes and his mulletover crew were integral in the rise of the underground and have helped to shape its landscape and sound in the capital and beyond. When Geddes started the now iconic mulletover events with Rob Star back in 2004, it was through grit and determination to secure original spaces and an enduring passion for delivering the freshest talent that Geddes became such a face in the evolution of a thriving house and techno scene.
Since then, Geddes has turned his attention to a number of musical projects including the launch of murmur and offshoot label and event nofitstate. The dual brand has now become synonymous with the kind of homegrown talent that you’re likely to find joining Geddes alongside his event residencies. With an ear for sonic detail and dedication to serving up quality experiences, Geddes is always on the quest to broaden the adventure and the next chapters of the murmur/nofitstate story are unfolding with a cracking line-up of future releases and stages at Bloc Weekender, Hideout Festival and a mulletover season at Sankeys Ibiza. Geddes will also be playing at the We Love Space terrace and Bestival 2012.
On the production front, Geddes first made his steps in 2006 under the Rekleiner guise alongside Anthony Middleton and Luca Saporito (aka Audiofly). After killer releases on labels Maschine and Moodmusic among others, Geddes forged a string of notable remixes and solo works as well as collaborations with producers such as Mic Newman and Alex Jones. Concentrating for a time on promoting and DJing, Geddes marked a new spell of creativity in 2012 by remixing Gavin Herlihy’s ‘Tell Me What You Need’ on Culprit and releasing his first solo productions in three years, the ‘Inner City Man EP’ on nofitstate plus an EP on Tsuba and remix for new signings Sonogama on murmur. The highly anticipated debut mulletover mix compilation ‘mulletover the Story So far: 2004 – 2012’ will celebrate 8 years as one of London’s most influential underground events.
A born and raised Londoner, Stuart Geddes still cultivates a desire to inject freshness into his surrounding nightlife, evolving with the times and upgrading venues to uphold an impeccable standard for sound and production experience. Along with the on-going support and love from a tight community of music fans and artists alike, the omnipresence of Geddes and his contribution to the underground scene is set to endure.
