|Moniker(s) / ||GUILNER, GLNR|
Guilner (aka GLNR) began experimenting with music production in 2003 and as a D.J in 2008. His recent productions range from techno, electro, house, pop and disco. Appearances at London’s intriguing parties and clubs have always been welcomed as a breath of fresh air for his ability to condense on set sounds, tracks, styles of different genres, and deliver them to the crowd in a ground breaking new electronic, post-disco format.
Born in Italy, moved to London in 1997. Since a young age he discovered music by listening to his father’s favorites blues and jazz records. These, together with the broad range of music genres he followed in his youth; 80s pop culture, 90s dance, Hip Hop, Funk, Classical and Metal have heavily influenced his individual style. When he relocated to London he became spell bound by the techno party scene. Fascinated by select live acts of contemporary techno producers, he began to create original music tracks with the help of computers and audio units such as samplers and synthesizers. He recycled an old pc from his boss’s office and started to experiment with sounds. During the next few years, he signed up to music school where he fell in love with the piano. He put together a small studio in his home in East London, where he could express his ideas in music. Early sounds had an acid techno feel. This being the main genre played in the parties he attended, he was acquiring new skills at the same time. He then started to develop his own style, drawing influences from the music he cherished in his youth, mixing new with old and gradually consolidating his skills, which then became his perspective on the future dance floor. Soon came new business ventures in the form of collaborations with Technoises, A.C.M.E. Soundz System, UKFlow to name a few, which gave him the chance to show case in the capital a unique funky techno which received very positive feedback. In his music school years he accrued experience in bands where he took to the stage as a keyboardist giving him a primary insight into performing to a live audience. Through this experience he created various unreleased early productions of synth-pop where he plays and sings. In 2009 he started a new project with Italian pal, forming aLLriGhT (www.allright.co) hard-edged electro duo. Through this alliance with new people and new sounds he could now experiment with a completely fresh approach to dance music.
GLNR’s vision for today is a wide mix of his experience in music so far. He stays true to the underground cuts inherited from styles like techno and electro of his past, slowing everything down to a disco blend, made of classic funk loops, spaced synthesizer keyboards and old school samples, underpinning a marked influence of solid electro funk in his work. His live performances and D.J sets have been highly successful on the London underground scene.
