Greek born, London bred DJ, and Berlin based producer and label owner Alex Tsotsos a.k.a. GummiHz is at the forefront of a contemporary house movement heavily dressed in the authentic and raw trappings of the genres past. Since 2006, he’s been steadily serving his unique mixture of house and techno on esteemed imprints like Mobilee, Real Tone, Earthrumental, as well as exciting new labels like These Days and more recently on his own imprint Claap, amongst many others.

As a musically active teenager, Alex was fascinated with producing music since an early age. After a few years of classic guitar training and a couple of teenage garage bands, he was introduced to djing which instantly became his passion. Its been nearly 16 years since and now Alex is taking his diverse fusion of contemporary dance music to amaze audiences worldwide. From a dj’s standpoint, Alex has a very characteristic way of story telling by combining mixing with real time sampling. Classy, eclectic, emotional and yet chunky and raw, his dj set constantly moves back and forth with elements re appearing on moments. Taking full control of the dancefloor and in more than a few occasions while playing the closing slot he has ended up stretching his sets from 3 to 6 – 7 hours!! From north and south America to Japan and Europe, GummiHz has performed in many clubs and events like the legendary The End in London, WMC in Miami, Sullivan room in New York, Cocoon in Frankfurt, Privilege in Ibiza. Additionally Alex is holding a few international residencies such as the La Santanera in Playa Del Carmen in Mexico. He is also playing clubs regularly in his place of residence. Berlin, such as Watergate, Cookies, Arena, Weekend and has performed at the infamous Bar25.

A witness of the electronic music explosion during the mid nineties in England, Alex has spent many nights getting educated in the city’s clubs and underground parties. During the latter part of the 10 years he lived in London, Alex started making his own parties in underground locations and was a regular at events like the infamous Multivitamins parties in Shoreditch and Corsica Studios in south London.

Drawing inspiration from different styles such as disco , soul , jazz, music of Africa and early NY house from artists like Maze, Space, Arthur Russell, Larry Levan, Sylvester, DJ Pierre, Aphrohead, Junior Vasquez to name only a few. He isn’t afraid of using elements from the width and breadth of the musical genres’ spectrum, in his productions. While gaining reviews and articles on various publications worldwide, some of his productions have been licenced by djs like Danny Tenaglia, Tiefschwarz, Derrick May and even John Digweed for mixed compilations on labels such as Fabric and Tommy Boy.

Naming himself for the sounds in a track that make you swing your hips and shoulders - the elastic(Gummi) frequencies (Hz) – Alex has gained worldwide notoriety for his eclectic musical palate, dynamic DJ sets and incredible releases. Records like “Basic Elements vol.1? (Real Tone/2010)”, “Select and bounce” (Mobilee/2006), “Mind games” (Mobilee/2007), “Under the Sun” (Mobilee/2008), “High on percussion” (Earthrumental/2009) and a mix compilation for Mobilee’s back to back series. As well as Songs from the continents (Claap/2011), Sapfo EP (Claap/2010) with Nikola Gala on Claap. In 2009, Alex released his debut album titled “Sleepless nights” on Mobilee records. A serious step in establishing him as an important figure in the contemporary dance music community. More recently he founded his own label Claap in need of a platform to express freely his vision of modern dance music.

Alex is very commited to his craft and preserves a serious professional profile. Mainly focused on expression through developing his productions and reaching out to audiences through his passionate and dynamic dj performances.
