Howard Reprise has been playing records for around 10 years, across house, techno, drum&bass, electronica, soul, hiphop, and broken beats.
Growing up in Surrey, about 20 miles from London, he got bitten by the dance music bug at 14, quickly buying his first set of turntables, and then landing a part-time job at his local vinyl emporium; Dance2Records.
Working at the shop alongside a group of established DJs, promoters and producers provided a great deal of experience, insight and contacts, and before long Howard and friends were putting on their own events in clubs and bars, and also across the local countryside with their free outdoor parties gaining attendances of up to 800 people purely through word of mouth.
Upon moving to Nottingham to go to university, he co-founded and resided at a night called Repercussion which saw the likes of D-Bridge, Calibre, DJ Flight, Klute and many more grace the turntables, with the aim firmly on combining deeper drum&bass with house, soul, techno and hiphop. One of the highlights was a live broadcast on BBC 1Xtra as part of their ‘Xtra Bass’ week of events across the UK. Two sell-out parties were then held at London's prestigious Egg club, featuring guest artists including Goldie, MJ Cole, 4Hero, Friction and Doc Scott, and run with the support of two of the most respected and diverse labels around – Metalheadz and Tru Thoughts.
In August 2005, Howard co-founded the Reprise DJ agency, which now boasts over 15 of the leading lights in today’s vibrant international drum&bass scene.
As well as slots at some of the UK’s top parties including Traffic, Metric, Detonate and HQ, there have also been bookings in Zurich, Graz, Belgrade, Paris and Ghent, a guest mix CD for Knowledge Magazine, appearances on Ministry of Sound and BBC 1Xtra radio, plus an ongoing residency at Shogun Audio's flagship night at The End in London, with Howard laying down anything from stripped-down soulful beats through to hypnotic house and techno alongside the cream of the UK’s alternative electronic scenes.
Still just 24, Howard has already garnered a huge amount of experience working across the musical spectrum as a promoter, agent, DJ, and of course a music fan and collector, and his DJ sets always represent this - crossing the boundaries and joining the musical dots.
