This label was born from the dream of a man called Jimmy Savard as homage for her mother RIP. This visionary music lover who is internationally known has a talented DJ, fine music connoisseur & also for his hard work in the Canadian electronic music scene decided to start this great project to transmit his love for the music. The digital form has been chosen by him especially to make it easier for everyone to discover this new & different music.

Never forget that Monique Musique has been created to let the people hear something different… So, stay tuned because 2011 will certainly be a great year for the music & be sure that here at Monique Musique we are going to constantly seek the world to find out the best one.

Hello Jimmy! Welcome to Soundwall!
We know you as the owner of Monique Musique, tell us a little bit about this journey?

I started the label in autumn 2008 slowly with the first ep’s proposal it was my friend North Motion from Quebec Canada and Stefano Galbiati with a super Guti remix.
The first big hit was Guiseppe Cennamo (El gitanoo) charted no1 by luciano, loco dice,
From autumn 2009 till now we are still discovering fresh talents all over the world and constructing selected ep’s.

How was the scene in Quebec, and how is it different from Europe?

Quebec scene is under construction; some clubs in Montreal play underground music with international artists as special guests. It’s developing but it still needs some push. I guess it’s the same old story where the interests of few running the mainstream music has got total control over the rest and within the club industry they becomes an obstacle for our music evolution. For sure the scene is now in Europe.

You seem to love diversifying your releases, what type of sound are you seeking for Monique lately?

We used to release many kind of styles, in order to the season that comes up, actually the main and unique idea is to keep the Sun up, the simple and the effective way we love to call our music is all about light, colors, shapes and situation on the dancefloor, every track, got a story to tell, and every single track is out because of all this reasons.

Do you have any Italians on the label? What do you think of the scene here?

We selected tons of good Italian guys, but to be honest we started to filter all the entrance and been more selective, we was the first label ever that gives one of the best platform to release up with to all these guys, and after that everything becomes like ” pizza”, when something is good.. People start to copy us, and so on..
in this days we have some very good talents inside the family that is working very hard to be on the main streaming line of good dance music, without shaming and selling their name around. And this is our first goal talking about quality & quantity. I think Italy got one of the best club scenes in the world.

What can we expect from Monique and Mr. Jimmy Savard in 2011, anything exclusive you could tell us?

I take a long time to run on this side, and I’m proud about all the issues that is coming out. Lined up I’ve got our own productions in collaboration with some of the Monique artists rooster; this is the very first time I’ll get into this game! I’ve also started a new category of Monique Musique called “The Club Edition”; a selection of several solid dance floor oriented pieces of music produced by young talents and boosted subsequently by high caliber remixers such as Butch, Stefano Noferini, Cristian Varela, Hernan Cattaneo just to name but few; and a long list of single ep’s to discover.
