As you'll see from this homemade video, the Underground Quality boss didn't take too kindly to being mentioned on the notoriously outspoken record store's "worst of 2012" list.
Jus-Ed, the veteran deep-tech DJ, producer and head of the Underground Quality label (real name: Edward McKeithen) joins the Discovery bash for its third-anniversary party on Saturday, September 8.
Jus-Ed: "Like Steffi—when I released her record, the Reasons EP, it was a struggle, mainly because she knew a lot more about the industry than I did. I kind of got offended when she started asking me about rates, percentages, and this and that. I didn’t know about that stuff; I was like, “Look, motherfucker, I just want to put out the goddamn record!” [Laughs] I got embarrassed, and finally had to tell her that I didn’t understand what she was asking me, and asked her to explain it."
Playing alongside Lance DeSardi, Marcellus Pittman, Tyrel Williams, Brian Bejarano and representing his home of Hartford, CT, Jus-Ed take you deep into the night.
Leading into the 5th annual FORWARD festival in Washington DC, Jus-Ed takes some time out to talk music, clubs, and the upcoming UQ label showcase taking place in April as part of the fest.
Ahead of their final party at Tape in Berlin this coming Friday, the Underground Quality head mixes up pretty much all his own material (save a sole DJ Qu cut and a collaboration with Fred P) for LWE.
The Underground Quality boss has put together a CD's worth of exclusive music featuring artists from the UQ family in addition to music from Move D, Patrice Scott and Daniel Bell.
Jus-Ed's latest Jam Session at Berlin club Tape will be broadcast live tonight from midnight GMT. If the last one was anything to go by it will be worth tuning in/turning up.
Jus-Ed has made available a CD recording of his back-to-back set with Move D at Tape Club in Berlin late last year. All profits from the disc will apparently be pumped into the next party with Lawrence on February 9th.
