Kered

Biography of Kered

Real name / Kered

The past several years have been an incredible time of growth, opportunity and change for Kered. Some of the highlights include being nominated for an International Dance Music Award (IDMA) for Best Podcast, the Kered & Kiraly remix of Lazar being dropped by Pete Tong on his BBC Radio 1 show to millions worldwide, the opportunity to remix Nadia Ali’s “Crash & Burn” single, and the opportunity to perform in front of thousands in Ibiza, Munich, Reykjavik, Miami, Atlanta, Montreal and more. But that’s just the very beginning…

“Music is something that’s always been an important part of my life,” says Kered. “I have specific childhood memories of sitting at a turntable playing around with records by Prince, Michael Jackson, Rod Stewart and even Kraftwerk. My uncle was a DJ in the disco days and I’ve always been surrounded by these sounds.”

For Kered, the most important part of DJing is sharing new and exciting sounds with people. “I’ve always said a good record is a good record, regardless of the genre. So many DJs get caught up in one particular style, and I’ve never really understood this. The biggest thrill I get out of DJing is introducing people to something new that they may not have ever heard of.”

A big part of sharing that love for music is the KeredCast, a free dance music podcast that features the latest productions but also a spotlight on featured guest DJs. Some of the jet-set elite who have appeared on the show include Frankie Knuckles, John Digweed, Sasha, Paco Osuna, Robert Dietz, Nic Fanciulli, Mark Knight, Satoshi Tomiie, Sharam, Axwell, Timo Maas, Chris Lake, David Morales and many others. Three years running, 150+ shows and no slowing down in sight.

A defining moment for Kered’s career was the Kered & Kiraly partnership. Longtime acquaintances turned friends, the duo’s remix of “Believe” by Kai vs. Kered landed on Azuli records and was well-received by A-list DJs. That led to more remix offers, including Lazar “Heat of the Moment” on John Acquaviva’s Definitive label, as well as other work including projects for Nadia Ali, Paul Harris, Tarkan and many others.

With Kiraly focusing more on his own productions and Kered focusing more time in the DJ booth, the duo amicably parted ways. “It was without question a rewarding partnership that opened a lot of doors,” says Kered.

Quietly diving back into the studio, Kered has been busy building his own studio and has worked on projects for Steven Lee, Henry John Morgan, and others to be announced. Stay tuned and keep an eye out here in 2012 – there’s so much more to come!
