King Britt is one of the best-known and most influential DJ/producers to come out of the Philadelphia music scene. In this Dubspot video interview he discusses his new loop/sample pack project Fragments and how the process for making collections of sounds differs from that of producing complete tracks. While demonstrating how he has designed the Fragments series of sample packs, he also shows the versatility of Ableton Live and explains why he uses Ableton as his performance platform.
What you are about to hear is from the sonic point of view of a bee within his journey. From searching for the organ that produces pollen, the stamen, to when grains fall and cross pollinate. Its a taste of experimental sound design and imagination. - King Britt

Last year, I went to an amazing festival in Philadelphia's Bartram Gardens, called Switched on Garden. This festival took the idea of exploring the relationship between plants, music and technology, to a whole new level. It was the perfect environment for kids and adults who have a curious heart and a love for fun electronic instruments.
This year I am honored to not only do a live set, but to have a release coming out on October 16. I did the album as a result of dabbling in my love for sound design. I sent this to them, not for them to sign, but I knew that Alex and Joe from DataGarden like this sort of stuff. They liked it so much that they wanted to release it. I love their whole vibe and drive, so I created a few more tunes using Monome and various processing methods. I present you The Bee and The Stamen.

He takes a heavy sci-fi slant with lots of film samples and soundtracks and uses music from The Chemical Brothers, Galaxy 2 Galaxy, Alva Noto & Ryuichi Sakamoto, Eurhythmics, Paul McCartney and of course his Fhloston Paradigm music on Hyperdub.
Tonight’s the night, folks! Legendary DJ/producer King Britt touches down in the PGH at none other than AVA lounge. Im very excited to have this release come out on one of my all time favorite labels, Planet E. Owned by my homie Carl Craig, it has always been at the forefront of real techno music. Honored.
