Biography of Kivanc Kitapci |  |
In 1981, a hard winter day, Kivanc Kitapci was born in Ankara, Turkey. His first experience with electronic music was ignited while working at Radio Bilkent Alternative in 1998. In time, while getting more into it, his archive grew every day, and the obsession of sharing his music begin in the year of 2000. The Club 20, a great phenomenon in Ankara, helped him to improve his sound and interaction with the crowd, which lead the way to residency in Drop Club in 2003.
Traveling between deeper, techy and groovy sounds, he appeared in the club scene at Drop, Saklikent, Eskisehir Budha, Culture and If Perfermance Hall. Sharing others music was not enough for him anymore. In the year 2004, his own productions started to appear in his very own, personal, tiny little home studio. After one or two tries, by the help of his luck, five of his tracks, Creepy Feather, Coffee Break, No Longer Black, Please and Jumpin’ Lizard was signed to respective digital label Ascension Records in 2007. In the same year, with his music partner Ekim Bakirci, Kivanc developed another project of mixing oldies with today’s electronic background, which is called “I love oldies”. At the same time he is a partner of Kollektif group, which incorporates several Dj’s across Turkey.Kivanc is still a graduate student at Bilkent University, and writing his thesis on Architectural Acoustics.
