Biography of Kristina Sky

Short Bio:

With records out on Armin Van Buuren’s Armada, Paul Van Dyk’s Vandit and U.S. mega-label Ultra, while holding a coveted residency with West Coast power-house promoter Giant, it’s easy to see why Kristina Sky is one of America’s brightest rising stars. Born and raised in Los Angeles, she’s been DJing to thousands of crazy clubbers since 2002, coast-to-coast in the U.S. and around the world—from China to Ecuador, the Philippines to Guatemala and Canada to Costa Rica—along with being handpicked to play Coachella, North America’s biggest music festival, sharing the stage with legendary acts like Madonna, Daft Punk and Gabriel & Dresden. Her guest mixes and popular radio show “Trancelate” are heard by the masses—broadcasting via satellite, FM and the internet.

It’s really no wonder that Kristina has gained enough fan support to vote her five consecutive years into the highly regarded Tranceaddict Top 250 DJ Poll (#103 in 2010) and keep her in the top ranks for trance and progressive on The DJ List seven years running! Her DJ sets are memorable and energetic journeys through the best of dance music and her productions are known to be gritty, melodic and banging. Playing alongside many of the world’s top trance and progressive DJs, while also gaining their support on her productions, it’s only natural that she has made quite a name for herself in the global dance scene.

If you haven’t had a chance to experience one of Kristina’s live sets yet, anyone who has will tell you that you’re missing out. Her passion and love for the music is undeniable and her ultimate goal is clear—to rock you out on that dancefloor, leave you with a memorable soundtrack of the night and keep you coming back for more!

Full Bio:

Kristina Sky became an Electronic Dance Music fanatic at the age of 16 when she began attending underground parties in Los Angeles. It wasn’t long before she began organizing and producing commercial and underground events all over Southern California.

After years of throwing parties and managing local DJs, Kristina was given a pair of old turntables by a boyfriend and began obsessively collecting vinyl. In early 2002, she was booked to play her first event and the response was overwhelming. Since then, Kristina’s been pounding her unique style of high energy, melodic trance — and her signature blend of progressive, house and electro — into the heads of dance music lovers all around the world.

Along the way, she introduced many of the biggest names in Trance to an American audience for their first time. During her early years as a resident at Club Heaven in Hollywood, she booked and played alongside Blank & Jones, Menno de Jong, Solarstone, Johan Gielen, Jan Johnston, Nu-Nrg, Kyau & Albert, 4 Strings, Ronski Speed, Mark Norman, Motorcycle, Rank-1, Dave Dresden, Second Sun, Ian Van Dahl, Cosmic Gate, Filo & Peri — to name just a few.

In Summer 2005, Kristina picked up a new residency with XM Satellite Radio's “Lost Episode” club-nights at various world-class venues in Los Angeles and San Diego, such as Avalon and 4th & B. In addition to teaming up with talented DJ and “Lost Episode” Host, Victor Dinaire, Kristina also had the opportunity to play alongside the likes of “Top 100” DJs Ferry Corsten (#5), Paul Oakenfold (#11) and Andy Moor (#46). After cultivating a massive Southern California following (with 43 shows in 2005 alone) Kristina was named “Official Resident DJ” for Spundae (Voted “#1 Promoter” at 2006 IDMA and “#37 Club in the World” by Mixmag).

2006 was a banner year for Kristina, with an astounding total of 55 shows in several states, as well as Canada, Ecuador and China. Overwhelming fan support led to her breakthrough as a New Entry on the “Tranceaddict Top 250 DJ Poll” and landed her at #75 in the U.S. and #102 in the world for Trance on the highly regarded DJ List out of 99,000+ registered DJs (www.thedjlist.com). She made her debut performance at Coachella, one of the biggest music festivals in North America, where she played to an audience of thousands, along with Madonna, Paul Oakenfold, Carl Cox, Daft Punk and more. (The response was so massive that she was asked to play a second set later that night — a possibly unheard of Coachella occurrence.) And she finished the year at Giant Maximus, one of the biggest NYE events on the planet, playing alongside an all-star line-up including Armin Van Buuren, Ferry Corsten and Sasha & Digweed.

Kristina also made her way into the studio in 2006, producing her first monster remix with Randy Boyer of EnMass. Released on Armin Van Buuren’s “A State of Trance” imprint on his massive label Armada, “EnMass– CQ [Seek You] (Randy Boyer & Kristina Sky’s 2007 Remix) received huge support by top talents like Paul Van Dyk, Armin Van Buuren, Markus Schulz, Solarstone, Agnelli & Nelson, John O'Callaghan, Darude, and Sander Van Doorn. It even topped the Beatport charts at #1 for thirteen consecutive weeks, with another ten weeks in the Top 10. The two then teamed up again to rock dancefloors all over the world with their 2008 hit on Paul Van Dyk’s “VANDIT Digital” — “Kristina Sky & Randy Boyer - Set It Off”. This record was played by many of the top jocks and is still played by PvD in sets today! 2009 had tons more in store with a debut release on American dance label giant “Ultra Records” (“Randy Boyer & Kristina Sky ft. Cari Golden – No Limit.”) and a massive remix of UK trance legend, Solarstone’s, “Slave”, both slated for release dates close to Miami’s Winter Music Conference. 2010 sees Kristina collaborating with Dutch trance producer/DJ Thomas Bronzwaer on several projects, one of which being a big remix for Irish Superstar producer/DJ John O’Callaghan’s collaboration with Germany’s Giuseppe Ottaviani, “Liquid Fire”.

Via satellite, internet and FM radio, Kristina’s live recordings and guest mixes are streamed and heard by millions, from all corners of the globe. For over seven years her international audience has tuned in to her mix show series: “Kristina Sky Presents . . . Trancelate,” on www.etn.fm, one of the world’s largest and most respected Trance and Progressive online stations. She frequents guest mixes on Victor Dinaire’s “Lost Episode” and Swedish Egil’s “Groove International” (with over 20 million subscribers), and is also featured regularly on various others programs broadcast to over 80 million homes and cars in America on Music Choice/DirecTV.

In 2007 Kristina joined Beatkraft DJ Agency and has been crushing dancefloors ever since, with performances at various venues around the globe, from Manila to Vancouver, Seattle to Miami, Guatemala to Costa Rica and beyond.

Kristina’s mission has always remained clear — whether it's a supporting set for a Top 100 DJ or headlining the night herself — to get the crowd moving, play the tracks they want to hear, and give every clubber the ultimate nightclubbing experience!
