Chelonis R Jones "Barefoot Through Hell" [Systematic]
I have been a fan of Chelonis' music from the second I heard it. I think he is vastly under-rated and this track speaks for itself. When I hear his music it makes me glow because I know that there really is true artistry alive and well in our industry. Systematic Records is usually a "buy-on-sight" label for me for this very reason.
Pantha Du Prince "Steiner Im Flug" [Dial]
This guy's music reminds me of the click-glitch stuff that I fell in love with when I was young; but he takes it a step further into more twisted, emotional, and melodic territory. This track effortlessly uplifts me from the inside out and I feel fortunate to hear it-every time. The sign of a good track for me is that it puts chills on my skin. This does...and with beautiful precision.
Wolfgang Voigt "Geduld" ( DJ Koze Mix ) [Profan]
Wolfgang Voigt is one of my favorite producers, if not my absolute favorite. He really is a genius who has consistently busted the boundaries of what electronic music can be for so many years. The original version of this along with the rest of the material from his Freiland Klaviermusik album is some of the most astonishingly strange and accurate music I have heard from him yet. The Koze mix takes me deeper and warps this tune into a more classic Profan expression of which I am a life-long fan. Pure.
