Wed, 20 Jul 2011  /  Post a commentFresh off of our SMOG008 release, Kuru is proud to bring you This is IT – Interesting Times v.23 presented by Club Muse. This mix was inspired by the producers of today taking on that original jungle vibe and making it current.
The underground Bass scene is a constantly evolving entity with trends coming and going quicker than most can keep up with. But one thing is for certain — what was once big will likely lose its cool, then resurface in a resurgence as artists grasp for that next big hybrid sound of past versus future.
Here we are in 2011 and while the big festival Dubstep sound has undeniably taken over, there are a lot of exciting things happening on other sub levels around the globe. Over the past weekend we were going through our music library and found a lot of tracks reworking that original jungle vibe — a special combination of bass as heavy as osmium, animated syncopation, riveting pads and classic vocals — all with newschool tempos and production value. It was immediately obvious that we needed to capture at least a portion of this vibe in an off-the-cuff mix that didn’t spend an over-abundant time on technicalities. So here it is, Media Contender readers, fresh off of our SMOG008 release, Kuru is proud to bring you This is IT – Interesting Times v.23 presented by our own Club Muse.
One track within the mix we’d like to give special mention sits 10th in the tracklist entitled Aoki, produced by UFO! and Kuru due out on the Frite Nite imprint soon. Stay tuned to the Club Muse website for details on its release!
