Lupe is a dj, artist, vocalist and producer who never limits himself and the crowd. He plays techno, electro and house to full party-effect since 2004 when he began deejaying at both underground and mainstream parties. His first music release came in 2010, the EP on the Instant Replay label.

Laying on the green grass and watching the passing of the clouds, young Lupe looked at the world as one big playground. It was as if the grass and the clouds made sounds, nature was dancing around him.

At the tender age of 12, Lupe discovered house music... A Christmas present of a record that was simply named 'Acid House'. Something in his body took over and made him dance in his room. His exploration of electronic dance styles began, looking out for the best and latest music.

Four years later, what's a 16 year old to do? Become a go-go dancer, get into parties!
Insatiably paying attention to names and labels of the actual music spinning, he evolved from club kid to dance music connoisseur, party organizer and dj. His favorite classic track for go-go dancing? 'Throw' by the Paperclip People.

Also the madness of a movie, with its colours and story, brought him somewhere else. So it was a natural step to study film at the University of Amsterdam. Music and movies gave him an escape to fantasy worlds created by others. For years he collected records, not even for DJ sets – yet.

At age 25 Lupe decided to create similar escapes for others. As author and initiator, he aims to make people meet on an equal basis outside the ordinary world. The dance floor is the designated place.

So he started deejaying, organising parties and making music. He takes you to a place where he makes the rules. A visitor will experience Lupe’s story which is universal and for everyone. It’s not only fun that you will find, because every fantasy world has his own dark alleys and secrets.

His first club night is UNK in Club 8, Amsterdam, a first self-created success.
Many gigs, collaborations and residencies followed, also often involved creatively in programming and design, like Acid Nouveau in 11 - rip, Galore in Sugar Factory, FashionRadio in Studio80.

Lupe was nominated Best Newcomer DJ in 2004, Most Sexy dj in 2009 and his club night Italo Elite won the first of the infamous Dutch Golden Gnome Awards!
His first exposure to spinning for a large audience came in 2005, when party-organization ID&T featured him as one of the headliners in the minimal-to-nu-acid area of Innercity (Holland’s largest indoor festival).

In early 2008 he took UNK international by throwing a triumphant party in Berlin.
Music production also started then, including developing of vocals and songwriting out of the desire to add vocals on clean instrumental tracks. The need to express only grew bigger.
Later that year he was chosen to play at Madonna’s Official World Tour after party in the Heineken Music Hall.

He also developed a disco alter ego for the party Italo Elite with Martin Duvall, Tom Trago & San Proper.
He selected and played music for fashion shows at Fashion Institute Arnhem, like soundtracking a movie, close to film narration from Media & Culture studies in which he graduated.

After you experience a nice disco record, Lupe might taunt you with an industrial electro sound or tickle with a tropical sound.
He provides a music road map, guides you and you will follow. But you follow in a gentle way. The music is not only to be heard but also to be seen, if you believe in a wall of sound that is a visual one too.

Lupe describes his own music tracks and dance songs as disco poetry, stories of nighttime encounters and other human conditions.

Artist Statement:
I bring a new hybrid of electro, techno and disco to the dance floor.
I express through songs a new style for men and women, straight and gay, black and white, and so on.
I believe that there is nothing to be scared of in each other. Nightlife with dance music is the designated area to overcome differences in daily life. Where we literally see each other in a different light, towards a better world. Therefore I consider it an honor and a privilege to work on parties and in music.
