“Ehy dude you wanna try how doesi it feel overhere?”. It’s winter of 2001 in Oxford, UK; Marcello Tagliaferro, student at the Politecnico of Turin, is attending a course in Industrial Production; that night he is at a party when the Artful Dodger’s dj asks him if he wants to feel the console’s shake, understand how pushing just one buttun can shift the balance of a crowd. At that moment, once received the unction the young student Marcello Tagliaferro, understood that music wouldn’t been just a hobby in his life. Back in his city, Turin, he bought his first pair of decks, learned how to mix and as often as he could he jumped up a plane, favourite destinations: Barcelona, Ibiza, Berlin, London… the european electronic capitals. Marcello Tagliaferro, battlename Marcelo Tag mooves the first steps on a console, the primary school of his artistic career, at BarBar, delightful dancefloor in downtown Turin in which together with his fellow Def establish the night Lick the Sound. In those years talking about Turin’s electronic nights means The Plug, historical night at Centralino Club where legendary local artists such as Simone Cordero, Andrea Frola, Titta and Andrea Zanardi ride the musical print of those times: the electro. Thanks to the friendship with Claudio Ultrasuoni, owner of the largest vynil’s dispenser in Italy and The Plug’s mind, Marcelo Tag receives the opportunity to test himself with the more skilled colleagues, and to learn, a lot. After a couple of seasons, the dinamic young dj splits up from The Plug and with the collaboration of an important promoter, Fabio Moretto, founds the night XXX at The Beach, a brand new and multifunctional club, with a winning architecture that rises on the Po river. At XXX Marcelo Tag receives to play next to him artists in bloom that in few years will become peak names of the european clubbing scene, such as Anja Schneider, Nathan Fake, Jay Haze, Dan Ghenacia, Damian Lazarus, Claude Von Stroke and Bruno Pronsato. Keeping in touch with this artists Marcelo Tag understands that for making the quality leap, is necessary to put energies into music production. Together with his business partner Franco Cazzola aka Tek establishesthe record studio Nasty Records, a huge space compoused by a recording studio, three project studios, a rehearsal room and every sort of sampler, drum machines, synthetizer available on the market. The two friends played often together unendless back to back that mix the sound of Franco Cazzola’s live and Marcelo Tag’s vynils. Very often supported by his partner, Marcelo Tag plays along the years in well known european clubs such as : Nouveau Casinò in Paris, Moog in Barcelona, Mogambo of Valencia, Berlin’s Arena and Zementgarten. The airy and sunny style, the techno speaker and the french touch typical in Marcelo Tag’s sets have been danced in important italian clubs as the Index in Bergamo, the Altavox in Venice and the Leoncavallo in Milan. The summer of 2009 is a turning point for the dj: MarceloTag and Franco Cazzola give birth to Carnival Records. In those days the Italiawave, one of the most important musical festival of the continent, inside whom there’s the electronic aim, the Eletrowave, awards Marcelo Tag as best young italian dj. Marcello performs in a windy night of July in Livorno, Tuscany, sharing the stage with Marcel Dettmann, the DoP, 2 Many Dj’s, Ellen Allien and Shinedoe. On November 2009, Marcelo Tag takes part for the first time to the Turin festival Club to Club ; in the last night of the State of IndipenDance meanwhile Jeff Mills and Carl Craig are bombing with acid techno the pavillon 1, the dj closes the red room after Nathan Fake and Dj Pierre’s sets. Nowadays Marcelo Tag is resident at Doctor Sax in Turin; the Venezia EP, second release from the label, is signed by two tracks by him: Venezia and Love Array; the third track is a Venezia remix made by the Argentinian from Vakant, Nico Purman.
