Mark Forshaw

Biography of Mark Forshaw

Mark Forshaw was drawn towards the club scene in 95 when he was regularly found on the dancefloor at both the Full On and Voodoo nights. The music of DJs and producers such as Stacey Pullen, Carl Craig, Garnier, Hawtin, Mills, Robert Hood and Voodoo resident Andy Nicholson proved highly influential on Mark and by 1997 he was DJing regularly at the Mentalist night which stylistically covered everything from hip hop, drum & bass, deep house and hard techno. After many great parties this night folded due to the closure of the Red Zone Venue. Next up was Mark’s collaboration with fellow Voodoo-head Scott McGill : TFunkshun. Starting small at The Lemon Lounge they were determined to bring quality music back to a then stale Liverpool scene, it didn’t take long for people to notice and Voodoo asked Mark and Scott to host the upstairs room at Le Bateau.

Following on from these memorable nights T- Funkshun moved to The Masque Theatre and later to the more intimate surroundings of The Magnet and Cavern venues. From 2001 until the night's demise in late 2005 Mark and residents Scott and David Lawton played alongside some of the underground's most well respected DJs and inspirational producers - Mike Grant, Melchior, Daniel Bell, Damon Wild, Matthew Dear, Rolando, Baby Ford, Freddy Fresh, Luke Solomon, Stacey Pullen, Anthony Shake Shakir, Derrick May, DJ Bone, Surgeon/Regis, Kenny Larkin and Terrence Parker.

Although TFunkshun has now ended, it's fair to say that there's sure to be some mad one off parties in the future.

As well as residency at TFunkshun, Mark has guested at Lost Soul, Havaganda, Highjacked, Wonky, Mahogani Boots, Bommynite, Disted Twisco, Aztec, Boodha Bar, Django's Riff, Babycream, Disco Science, Bambity, Voodoo and Dust (Bed, Sheffield). He is a versatile DJ who is just as happy playing funk and disco as he is playing more cutting edge styles. Not one to stick to one style, he just loves good music of any kind and his sets will often feature the sounds of deep Detroit, body and soul, quirky glitch, jacking house and broken beats.

Mark also runs the website www.outofboundssounds.com This site features many downloadable mixes by underground DJs from the North West including Soulizm, Bill Heckle, Hek, Binny, Ben Hughes, Paul Outlar, Transition, Scott McGill, Alex Webb and Mark himself. You'll find a wide range of mixes incorporating the sounds of deep house, beatdown sounds, Detroit techno and broken beats.

Look out for the monthly T-Funkshun Transmissions web radio broadcast which is hosted on http://www.salvagedigital.com

Mark’s love of music led him to release a track in 2002 entitled 'Revolution' for Turning Point Records which was his homage to the influential style of Detroit minimalism and proved popular with DJs Richie Hawtin and Magda. He's currently working on a number of house productions. Check http://www.myspace.com/0ut_of_bounds to hear what he's up to.
