Markie Gee is a pioneer of the New England music scene cutting his teeth doing local punk shows and college radio in the early 80’s. A staunch supporter of progressive and underground music, Gee has worn many hats in pursuit of bringing good music to wider audiences. Gee made a name for himself as a program/music director and a mixshow host for college stations WERS, WWUH and WESU. This is the genesis of Gee becoming one
of the most versatile and eclectic underground house djs.
Additionally Gee distinguished himself as a taste-making writer, promoter, club and rave personality. Gee was an influential writer for Dance Music Report, MixMag, Thousand Words, Dance Music Authority and Alternative Press. He also held many dj residencies in Boston, CT, Miami and NYC and promoted hundreds of events. Gee has a vast network of industry contacts and has written about and performed with a who’s who of dance music including Roger Sanchez, DJ Disciple, Robbie Rivera, Danny Tenaglia, Todd Terry, Erick Morillo, Hector Couto, Josh Wink, Bassbin Twins, Sonny Fodera, Doc Martin, Dave Dresden, Harley & Muscle, Larry Powers, Louie Vega, Tommy Largo, Soydan Yakuza, etc.
Gee maintains a following in both the deep house and electronic dance camps. He has guest mixes on RauteMusik.FM Germany, SS Radio UK, Radio Studio House France and Deepsound.FM London. Gee hosts weekly spots on WTC House Radio London and Sobel Nation Radio NYC (syndicated in over 200 markets internationally). Gee capped 2010 by being voted a Top 15 artist on the I Love House Music.com site for his mixes and debuted his popular iPhone dj app at WMC 2011!!
