Starting out as resident at Nottingham’s Liars Club, a infamous anything goes indie/dance night as well as harboring reputable good old fashioned mix cds, secured him regular gigs at London clubs like Bugged Out and Plastic People and Fabric as well as his first commissioned remix work. As ‘Nightmoves’, Matt’s remixes been on playlists of DJs the world over, namely The Glimmers, Tim Sweeney and Erol Alkan, and put him in the list of Mixmag’s top remixes of the year 2006. He has remixed everybody from Roisin Murphy and Robbie Williams to Delphic and Friendly Fires.
The success of his remixes and his ever evolving dj sets have taken Matt around the UK to Glastonbury, Lovebox, Cocadisco, and Ministry of Sound and countless sets all around Europe, Australia, and the West Coast of America.
Matt also records as Moscow, a new, deeper guise which has seen a return to the love of house music and given him the opportunity to experiment. These tracks have been played by the likes of Disco Bloodbath, Aeroplane, and Permanent Vacation- among many others. Look for the forthcoming 12” on Mule Musiq’s Endless Flight records with a remix from Frankfurt’s Brontosaurus.
Further expanding his original material -Matt is also one half of G&S, a project with Nadia Ksaiba, the first single, called ‘Show Me The Good Times’, on the London’s consistently discerning Dissident Records has been highly praised and supported all over by the likes of Optimo, Disco Bloodbath and Erol Alkan.
Matt Waites is currently resident and promoter at Future Flash and books and plays alongside DJs such as Rub n Tug, Optimo, Mock & Toof, Maurice Fulton and Toby Tobias monthly at Cable, London’s newest club set deep in the arches of London Bridge. Expect anything House and Techno, deep and cosmic and above all exciting, expertly mixed having had years of experience on the decks. |
