Mon, 03 Oct 2011  /  Post a commentMy Favorite Robot Records expands its sights once again and joins forces with San Francisco’s, Dead Seal, an enigmatic and talented musician and producer who it seems is set for big things….
Producer, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Dead Seal AKA Derrick Boyd has been on the scene for a number of years, releasing a debut album on maverick West Coast label Auralism and building a reputation for his energetic live performances. But it seems that his time in the international spotlight is about to arrive with some of the coolest labels around flocking to him for remixes and productions: Boyd has recently been drafted in by Damian Lazarus for remix duties on Crosstown Rebels, is set to record a full length album for Jonny ‘Art Department’ White’s No19 Music label and has been snapped up by kings of Canada, My Favorite Robot for this superb new single.

CLASS B BAND – STRANGE WOLVES EP (MFR038) – OUT NOW!!!
W/ REMIXES FROM DEAD SEAL & DARABI
It’s easy to see why Class B Band’s music was so appealing to the good folks at My Favorite Robot Records. The Toronto based label run by Jared Simms, James Teej, and Voytek Korab has always had an open minded A&R policy to quality electronic music, but a love of slightly off kilter, dark edged vocal gems has consistently been at the heart of the imprints output. Class B Band’s richly textured productions fit the bill perfectly, with the Spanish duo of Beatmaster G & Bea Tricks delivering a stunning audio soundscape that is perfect for My Favorite Robot Records and all those who are devotees of the label.
Class B Band saw the release of their debut album on Matthew Jonson’s much lauded Wagon Repair imprint earlier this year, an album which received broad critical acclaim and has set them on the path to become a major force in electronic music. Now they have taken time out to join up with MFRR for this superb new release.

NEW MY FAVORITE ROBOT REMIX OUT ON SUGARCANE RECORDINGS!
A brand new 18 track album by Jori Hulkkonen & Jerry Valuri, accompanied by a trilogy of vinyl EPs featuring remixes by Hercules & Love Affair, Aeroplane, CFCF, Hannulelauri, Pink Skull, My Favorite Robot, Siyoung, Renaissance Man and Jori Hulkkonen himself. On their second album, "Change Is Gradual", Processory refuse to mimic the sound of their debut. The new direction is a more synthetic one, complete with lo-fi aesthethics and transhumanistic themes. Whereas on the debut album the roles were divided into vocalist/lyricist vs producer/synth-guy, this time around the collaboration is more complex and profound: the album boasts lyrical, vocal, musical and productional input from both members, bringing more depth and versatility to the album.
"Change is Gradual" has garnered attention as a breakthrough album for 2011 and is available now. Lie back, enjoy...

My Favourite Robot with a vampish feast of 80s proto-house in ‘Still In My Heart’ followed by a playful epic rework from Ivan Smagghe and a dose of warped late night techno courtesy of two mesmerising Brett Johnson remixes.
The Model makes a storming entrance into the Crosstown camp with the original of ‘Still In My Heart’ spinning a circus of 80s inspired melodies, rave synths, techy bleeps and stabbing bass. My Favourite Robot’s soul-penetrating vocals nonchalantly weave a darker thread through the dizzy heights of electro styling’s supplying a vein of moody romance.
Emerging from the deeper recesses of the night comes Brett Johnson’s eerily melodic techno ‘Still In My Heart 4am Remix’, a huge club record that warps the mind with its’ wonky chimes and druggy motion and feeds the body with firm kicks and sub bass dirt. Gallic king of electronica Ivan Smagghe lends his genre-bending flair to his ‘Still In My Heart

Sat, 08 May 2010  /  Post a commentToronto heavyweight Jonny White teams up with close associates My Favorite Robot for a stunning single of twisted vocal electronica featuring a killer set of remixes from Chloe, The Model and Phonogenic....
The My Favorite Robot label is on a roll at the moment with recent killer singles from Kenny Glasgow, James Teej and Vandermeer receiving massive support, now Toronto house hero Jonny White teams up with both the label and the boys behind the My Favorite Robot name for this journey into the outer realms of twisted vocal electronica.
White has had an incredible couple of years, seeing his No.19 Music label become a mainstay in Dj boxes across the world, travelling the globe as a DJ, and running label nights from Toronto to London. My Favorite Robot AKA Jared Simms and Voytek Korab have likewise had a great run of things with their label receiving plaudits from press and DJs alike with its mix of homegrown talent and top notch international remixers.

Sat, 13 Mar 2010  /  Post a commentKenny Glasgow has been making music, DJ’ing and running parties for almost as long as house music has been in existence, from the back streets of Toronto to his worldwide travels playing alongside the likes of Jeff Mills, Carl Cox, Green Velvet, Hell, Sven Vath, Dave Clark and Laurent Garnier.
Glasgow’s latest outing is entitled ‘Final Frontier’ and takes the listener on a journey into the outer realms of electronica as only Kenny can. Thu, 14 Jan 2010  /  Post a commentMy Favorite Robot have taken a step into new pastures with the signing of the latest single from label favourite Vandermeer. The imprint’s musical policy has always been pretty open but the mainstay of the My Favorite Robot sound has been electro techno in its many forms. Now with ‘Positive Light’ and ‘She Wants to Dance’ the Toronto based producer shows that his talents transcend musical boundaries whilst the robots show that they know great music when they hear it, regardless of genres.
Positive Light / She Wants To Dance
A 5 track EP from Vandermeer
