Nico Lahs
Clouded Visions EP (All I Desire, Late Night, Clouded Visions)
Describe the record in five words.
Different, vintage, fresh, deep, groovy.
What is it about this record that will appeal to the fans?
Probably the fact that there’s too much similarity in many tracks that are coming out nowadays. I hear lots of records made just to follow the trends. I think these works are ‘different’.
How does it differ from your last release?
I think I’ve changed my way of working over time, and using hardware I’d never tried before made these tracks different. I also decided to wait a few months before offering a product that would be 100% enjoyable. I’m happy that my first release of 2011 release came out on this wonderful label.
What was the inspiration for this release?
This sounds funny, but my very first inspiration came from the very first Ovum releases. I talked about this with Josh Wink last time I met him – I’ve always been very fascinated by the label’s sounds and how they evolve year by year.
If you had the chance to play this in any club, which would it be?
Fabric/London.
DJ reactions
Josh Wink: “Deep Stuff! I had to have it on Ovum when I heard it! Pure heady, deepness with hints of NYC’s 1990s NuGroove or Strictly sounds. Impressed with this release from Nico. I’m happy he went with pure feelings rather than the pressure to make a main room bomb!”
Kiki: “Sweet! All I Desire is truly great deep house. Late Night sets the phazers to groove mode. And I have a soft spot for Clouded Visions as well!”
Steve Bug: “Nice EP from Nico! Late Night is the one for me here. Support!”
Charles Webster: “All I Desire is nice old-skool deepness. Clouded Visions also works very well.”
Samuel L Session: “Quality house… as you’d expect from Ovum.”
David K: “Beautiful EP. I love them all, especially Late Night – full, deep and sexy.”
And.id: “Proper house tunes… hard to pick a favourite!”
Ben Westbeech: “Yes yes! So into this release! Summer vibes all day long.”
KiNK: “Wink always had a great ear for fresh music and this release proves it once again! The record is a very modern and fresh interpretation of the 90s house sound. I like it a lot.”

Ovum is excited to bring you the debut EP from Nico Lahs. Many know him from his tracks on 8 Bit and for his Ovum debut
he has delivered two incredible slices of deepness. The Clouded Visions EP harkens back to the classic early Ovum sound
but this is clearly a 2011 version of it. The A side "Late Night" is deep, but yet pumping for any dance floor. The sound is
reminsicent of a mid 90s Mood II Swing, but with an updated twist. This will move any floor and is shore to be heard all
over this summer. "All I Desire" has a classic NY feel, with the only thing missing possibly being a husky male vocal. This
track can take you back to the Shelter. Two amazing deep productions from a talent who is clearly on the rise!
