Tue, 31 May 2011  /  Post a commentWe have the pleasure to meet Okain, one of the most interesting young artists in Europe. Samuel, with Varoslav, dOP, Yakine and many others, is part of the recent new-house scene in Paris. The french guy has a particular sound which we can define exactly between house and techno style, but always looking at quality and, rare in these times, originality.
Wed, 06 Oct 2010  /  1 CommentRising European star Okain comes to London on Saturday October 16th to launch Dumbfoundsound's winter programme at Nomad. Bringing us a bit of gallic flair he will provide first hand evidence as to why his hometown of Paris is famous for producing DJ's with a unique and distinctive sound.
Beatport's recent 'Focus on France' (http://www.beatportal.com/feed/item/focus-on-france-okain/) highlighted some of the emerging talent and sounds that can be found just across the water.
Paris, often overlooked in the clamour to love all things Berlin, has been a hot bed of new talent for years. With it's own distinctive sound it has been home to pioneering DJ's and producers such as Laurent Garnier, Ivan Smagghe, D'Julz and Terence Fixmer and, in Okain, there seems no reason for this trend to end anytime soon.
Immitation may be the sincerest form of flattery but, let's face it, in the world of electronic dance music, we've heard it all before.
"We don’t copy each others’ style; everybody is doing his thing. Maybe that is what set us apart from other cities" - Okain.
With a unique sound that explores the deeper side of tech house, classic grooves and modern sound design, Dumbfoundsound is delighted to bring Okain to London on Saturday October 16th to kick start our winter programme.
So, with tickets available at a recession crushing £5, dust off your dancing shoes and come and join us to see what all the fuss is about. Come on... when have the French ever let us down?!
