Optimo's JD Twitch remixes David Shaw and the Beat's cover of the 80s The The classic, 'Infected'. David Shaw and the Beat will release 'Infected' as an EP 5th March on Her Majesty's Ship
Born and raised in Manchester, David Shaw is today based in France. His cultural duality has had a profound influence on his music, and allowed him to create an original identity somewhere between techno and indie, he, who never wanted to choose between guitars and machines. As producer, writer/composer and performer, he has distinguished himself on the independent scene through various projects such as his own : Siskid (Initial Cuts, Meant Records), Animal Machine (Meant Records) and collaborations : Blackstrobe with Arnaud Rebotini and Ivan Smagghe (Beggars Banquet).
Today he's back with a new single, 'Infected', the first extract of his album to be released on Her Majesty's Ship. This song is a cover of The The, released in 1986. David Shaw gives it a brand new interpretation, but without losing its catchy eighties pop mood. The remixes are delivered by two great acts in electronic music : JD Twitch from Optimo fame and offer a brilliant old school flavoured version. The other from Max Pask, half of Populette, offers a sweaty epic 12 - minute long version, ideal at sunrise after a long night of dancing.

The next release on Optimo Music sees JD Twitch & co once again dig into the voluminous archives of Chris Carter to reissue and remaster “Moonlight” – one of their favourite tracks from the producer on a 12? that also features reinterpretations from two contemporary Stateside acts.
Described as a god on the Optimo website, Carter’s work as part of both Throbbing Gristle and Chris & Cosey has featured prominently on many a Optimo mix over the years, of both the officially released and podcast friendly variety. “Moonlight” originally featured on the 1984 Mondo Beat album and also slipped into the Optimo Electrobeat Mix way back in 2006. It is the second Chris Carter reissue from the Optimo imprint, following the remastered edition of The Spaces Between Us that was released last autumn.
Alongside a remastered version of the original, Optimo Music called on the talents of Oneohtrix Point Never and Neurotic Drum Band to reinterpret “Moonlight” with their own sonic palette. The term reinterpretation is used specifically as there were no parts to work with so both OPN and NDB had to start from scratch. Whilst the remix from Mexican Summer pinup OPN is yet to be heard but described as brooding, you can sample the delights of the reinterpretation from Wurst stalwarts Neurotic Drum Band at http://soundcloud.com/optimo-music/chris-carter-moonlight-ndb
