Biography of Presuming Ed | | | Real name / | Ed Hill |
Originally from Edinburgh, Presuming Ed now lives and works in London. By day he helps to run B @ TV and by night he can be found making techno in his Old Street studio or DJing at some of the capital’s most ground-breaking nights.
Since moving to London he has picked up residences and gigs at venues such as Ministry Of Sound, 54, Cable, T Bar, The Lightbox, SeOne, Scala, Cargo, 93 Feet East and Rhythm Factory. If you have ever spent any time on the dance floor while Presuming Ed is playing, it is easy to see why.
For his DJ sets, he harnesses the epic programming potential of ableton live: building thrillingly diverse house and techno sets that combine hundreds of tracks and samples for a kinetic electronic experience that is as mesmerizing as it is dynamic.
This technical prowess has not gone unnoted with the industry’s staunchest critics. DJ magazine only recently championed him for his ‘superb programming and brilliant mixing’.
When it comes to his production, Ed continues to take things up a notch. His tracks fuse dark percussive sounds, throbbing base lines and huge atmospherics into absorbing and complex arrangements.
His debut release was the 'Feel the Pinch EP', on Furthur Project Recordings. The release gained huge support from DJ's across the globe including Umek and Nick Warren, who both used tracks from the EP in their summer promo mixes.
In the coming months, Presuming Ed will continue to release his unique brand of techno on labels including Bullet:Dodge Records, 4 Digital Audio and Abattoir.
It’s safe to presume that you'll be hearing a lot more from Ed in the future....
