What to say about RandomPlay? Being in techno buisness for the last 12 years; goin up and down, loving and hating it, giving up and coming back to it again,
this guy finally found his rytym and peace in the fact that techno is just techno and nothing further to it. He loves the freedom not to have to live of his music and no ambition to do so. No pressure at all to be consistent to a style that might be fancy these days and no worries if the studio is not beeing used for some months while doing other stuff that keeps him occupied. For the Denmark based German "RandomPlay" is a concept, close to beeing a lifestyle that gives him the room to do what he wants.
Musicwise ohrstenPLAY (his Dj ego) had a couple of releases her and there as "Ohrsten Nors", mostly in the Prog-Trance sektor where he took some kind of underdog position to give one or another statik compilation a twist. But for real he put his first print on the Technomap with the first release on PuzzleTraxx "Just like that" which was played by a big number of well known artist like Adam Beyer (in his essential mix winter 2006), Anja Schneider, Sebbo K, Martin Landsky, John Aquaviva, Konrad Black, Funk D'Void, Jussi Pekka, Chloe, Toni Rios, Martin Eyerer, Agaric, Phonique, Gregor Trasher, Phonogenic, and many more!!! The follow up "The Creepy Sweepa EP" on PuzzleTraxx 003 seems to be as promising.
As a Dj ohrstenPlay has been around quite a bit bringing him to places like Helsinki (Ahjo, Fi), Copenhagen (CultureBox, Dk), Malmø (Inmission,Swe), Düsseldorf (Home14,Ger), Brno (Club Perpetuum,Czc), Prag (Minilab, Czc) and many more. Who has heared him knows that a set by him is an experience in it self. Always a colorful, deep driving crossover off tech house and techno with this hypnothic twist.
