Where do i start....?
I'm a sensitive soul who cares about humanity.
I like fish, I like food, I have been known to mess around with turntables and synthesizers, did i mention that I like fish?
My love affair with music dates back literally to when i was a toddler. I was always fascinated with my parents record player, and was exposed to a vast range of different musical styles from an early age and onwards throughout my life. I have fond memories of taking my older sisters 1990's casette albums & using the phillip's ghetto blaster with 2 tape decks and a dual record function that I won in a joke contest at primary school to make my own versions that had no gaps between the tracks. The fascination with all things musical and electronic continued strongly and still does to this day.
As my older sister grew inot the club scene i began to acquire tapes that she brought back from nightclubs, thats when I was first exposed to house music. From that moment onwards I was hooked on the sound. Down came the nirvana posters, up went the club flyers. Still at the tender age of 12 or 13, I found it hard to get my hands on as much House music as I desired, but searched hard and long to find it wherever I could, one of my main sources was late night radio shows when I should have been in bed!
Eventually the time came when I was able to get myself into some proper clubs. Then my affair with clubbing was born. I can remember spending full nights behind the Dj's, watching their every move, I knew it was for me. I finally got my first set of turntables and began messing around at the start of 2000. I was in my last year of school and it was time to decide what to do next. Naturally it had to be something envolving music, and with my ever growing passion for the electronic side of music, I felt compelled to take things further. I enrolled on a music technology course at halton college, it spanned 2 years and earned me a national diploma, but most of all it gave me my sense of direction and unlimited access to the college studio's(which was nice!) once I finished college, I was out of contact from a studio for nearly a year and was forced to use my crappy home pc to make my music(that didn't last long). At the back end of 2002, I became part of a business called "vinyl mayhem", a record shop set up by two freinds, which instantly gave me access to the industry and a place to start building my studio, during my time at the record shop I released tracks on various labels under different aliuses depending on the style(or how cheeky the track was - shhhh!) The shop lasted just under 3 years, every bit of which was an immense learning curve, from basic people skills, to unthinkable knowledge of the companies involved in the record industry. All the while I played at clubs up and down england, mainly up north but sometimes venturing further afield, gathering residencies wherever possible.
At the moment my dj style is very broad, I just play whatever feel's right on the night, House, Techno and everything inbetween, with plenty of turntablism thrown in to keep things lively!
I use the same ethic when it comes to studio work... my track's are predominantly House & Techno, but I never follow formula, I take influence from all aspects of music and life in general.
