After have announced the end of the Wighnomy Brothers project around the end of 2009, Robag and Monkey Maffia (the other member) continue their solo career but everyone on their own way.
The first thing i want to ask you is quite spontaneous, why did the Wighnomy Brothers project end after its grat succes?
After 17 years of dj-ing together it was time for something new. I think it was a good and right step for the both of us, at first I still was a little bit confused when playing all by myself but now I found a way to deal with the situation.
If we look at your production and remixes whe notice that there isn’t a clear dominat genre, what is the approach that you use whan you compose music?
I produced all the tracks for the wighnomy brother production all by myself. I just worked with Soeren as a DJ-Team. That also means my workprocess is the same for years now.
Your solo career is just started and you released two Ep, i’m talking about “Proviant”, on su Circus Company and “Dreiklangkapriolen”, on Music Krause. Can you talk about this two work and tell us about the style that you are going to use in the future?
My solo career started in 1998 with the first productions for wighnomy brothers. After that I produced one maxi and one album as “Machiste”. In 2002 I created the alias “Robag Wruhme” and I also did one EP as “Rolf Oksen”. So the releases of last year on Musik Krause and Circus Company are not my first releases as robag wruhme. There are countless maxis on Musik Krause, Freude am Tanzen an Vakant and a lot of remixes and soon two robag wruhme albums and three mix cd’s, two of them I did for the wighnomy project. The first one was made for the “Sonne Mond und Sterne Festival 2006? and in 2009 I did the second one called “Metawuffmischfelge ” on Freude am Tanzen. In January this year “Wuppdeckmischmampflow” was released on Kompakt under my alias Robag Wruhme.
I can say that you start a second career, so can you tell us something about your future? Project, collaboration…will we see you in Italy?
At the end of this month [april 2011] my second album will be released on dj koze’s label pampa. Alfter that I want to slow it down with producing for this year I want to concentrate more on playing dj-sets and travelling to be able to enjoy that more. I am going to be in italy this weekend, in Naples to be precise I am looking forward to this gig, because I know it’s going to be really intense and I really get along well with Augusto Penna. He is a good friend of mine.
