Mon, 04 Jul 2011  /  1 CommentCan you tell us a little bit more about the idea behind the mix you’ve done for us?
". . . I wanted to prepare something special. This mix is a little different for me - its bpm's are a little slower, the tracks play a little longer, the mixes ride longer, its moody and sexy in that late night / early morning way. There is even some non 4/4 stuff at the beginning. As with all my sets, it contains some new tracks, some old tracks, and some special edits."

Thu, 03 Feb 2011  /  Post a commentHello Spectral Sound @ Rex Club is coming on february 10th.
Ryan Elliott answered a few question for us...
1/ What have you been working on recently?
My debut EP comes out in a few weeks on Ostgut Ton, so mostly working on that. The rest of the winter will be spent on the road at the weekends and working hard in the studio during the week!
2/ Spectral Sound and Ghostly, that’s you and Matthiew Dear. In which way do you work together?
Matthew and I do the A+R for Spectral Sound. The running of Ghostly isn't handled by us.
3/ What direction do you give to your 2 labels
Spectral is the dance music arm of Ghostly. Ghostly focuses on Rock, Pop, Ambient, and beyond.
4/ What music did you grow up around and does that influence you now?
I grew up around Detroit radio - Rap, Hip Hop, R n B, etc. I still hold a lot of that music close to my heart.
5/ Who are you listening to/playing a lot at the moment?
I've been playing lots of old techno records again lately. Grain, User, Cosmic, Heiko Laux, etc. It just seems like the groove that those records capture is hard to find today.
6/ If you hadn’t become a DJ, label manager and producer, what do you think you would have been?
Good question! I'm really not sure. Music the my passion and obsession.
7/ You are from Detroit and you leave in Berlin. How is your life going there?
Life in Berlin is really good. My wife and I have lived in Berlin for about 1.5 years now. It's great because I was traveling so much to Europe while i still lived in Detroit, the flights were really long. Now, its usually just a nice short flight. I've also joined the Ostgut family and have a Berghain residency now that I live in Berlin, which has been amazing.
8/ What do you think about the Parisian scene?
I love Paris. I always have a great time at Rex, and there is excellent house and techno (and dj's) coming from Paris. Bass Culture, DJ Deep, DJ W!ld, etc....
9/ On which track you can't stop dancing?
DJ Rolando - The Jaguar!!
10/ Anything stupid last time you were drunk?
Never ;))
