When your talking about old hands in the British Dance music scene that still hold the credibility to stick to their guns and continue to play non commercial, true house music you need look no further than Scott Bradford.
Playing a style that can only be described as pure house music. Scott has been championed by such luminaries as Pete Tong, Seb Fontaine, John Digweed and Danny Rampling having played live mixes on all their Radio shows on numerous occasions. He has even secured his own monthly shows (along with DJ & production partner Mark Armstrong) on stations in Argentina, Portugal, Greece, Spain and Lithuania.
Scott first cut his teeth on the decks in 1989 playing odd club slots around the North East of England but he soon pushed himself to the forefront after teaming up with long term partner, SCOOBY, when they started their first weekly residency at Rockshots in Newcastle.
After two years and the subsequent rise of the silly hardcore scene Scott realised it was time to move on and relocate to a smaller venue where only those who appreciated their music fully and the crowd could be closely monitored. They took up residency at Club Afrika in May1992 and the legendary SHINDIG was born, moving into it’s 15th year (making it one of the longest running club nights in the UK) the night now resides at the impressive Digital venue in Newcastle has played host to a who’s who of international DJ talent and has gained a massive reputation at home and abroad.
Although Scott is a homeboy at heart and loves to play at his beloved SHINDIG he also DJ’s extensively across the globe. These road trips have included Renaissance, Back 2 Basics, Colours, Ministry of Sound, Elementz and The Gallery in the UK while abroad he regularly plays in South America, Japan, Italy, Greece, Hungary, Serbia, Romania, Croatia, Lithuania, Portugal, Spain, Russia, Dubai, Turkey, Israel, Germany, Finland, Norway, Korea, Jakarta, Singapore, Ibiza as well as stateside trips to San Fransisco, Miami, LA and New York.
Scott’s talents don’t just exist in the secret world of the DJ booth as his production and remix credits (along with production partner Chris Scott) would be envied by the majority.
Having recorded under the monikers NEW PHUNK THEORY, LITTLE GREEN MEN, SHINDIG, THIRD MOVEMENT, FISHEAD (with Satoshi Tomiie) and most notably as LEXICON AVENUE their remix and production credits extend to such labels as Yoshitoshi, Airtight, Hooj Choons, Paper Recordings, Bomba, Saw Recordings, Stereo, Audio Therapy, Junior Boys Own, NRK, Rennaisance, Plastica, Mute, Multiply, Island and of course his own imprint FORENSIC RECORDS. Scott and Mark have also recently teamed up with Mara’s BARRY GILBEY to record new material using the alias BUSH PEOPLE.
It is with Lexicon Avenue that Scott has found most of his success and November 2002 saw the release of their debut mix CD on Bristol based label NRK as part of their critically acclaimed Nitelife series their second compilation Forensic Science exhibit A (a collection of past, present & unreleased releases on their own Forensic imprint) was released in the summer of 2004. As well as these two compilations Scott released his first “Adventures Of Shindig” Cd in 2003. Then September 2007 saw Lexicon Avenue go head to head with Dave Seaman for Audio Therapys latest instalment in their Therapy Sessions series which gained rave reviews from the press and clubbers alike.
As well as his busy production and DJing schedule Scott some how finds time to run the hugely successful FORENSIC RECORDS label, look after the day to day dealings of his Shindig club night and
Record monthly radio mixes which are broadcast across the globe in countries such as Argentina, Lithuania, Greece, Russia, Spain and Italy as well as regular guest slots on John Digweeds kiss fm show. Whilst most notably Scott recently featured on Radio 1’s essential mix which was broadcast live from Shindig on Saturday 21st October receiving rave reviews.
If this isn’t one of hardest working gentlemen in dance music, then we don’t know who is!
