Welcome back to our 2nd episode of interviews at klubd... This time our guest is Sebastian Russell; a friend, a producer and a performer...

Mon, 15 Feb 2010  /  Post a comment
Men in Armour An outlet for deep techno-house, featuring a collaboration between English and German artists evolving here in a debut of Sebastian Russell on Men In Armour.
Men In Armour focused on the new and modern Deep House movement, which has recently set off.
Sebastian is no new name to the scene. He is renowned for his releases on Minus, Telegraph, MBF, Adjunct and has also released on Multi Vitamins, Safari Electronique and Lebensfreude.
His brand new tracks "Souvenir" and "Dead Horses" however make a change in style and production, going much deeper and being more soulful. Sebastian works here with acoustic instruments such as flutes and strings. Hypnotic house is what we would like to release also in the future.

"Souvenir" and "Dead Horses" have been mastered by Emnanuel Geller who is also mastering top Berlin House labels such as Mood Music and Dirt Crew Records.
Sebastian Russell lives in London and is a core artist for this label and a stepping-stone for more music to follow from him and his fellow mates in the UK

Sebastian Russell is amongst the most eccentric and original electronic dance producers to come out from the London electronic music scene in the last years. Seb's live shows have an outstanding appeal for intensity of grooves and sound variety, taking the listener on some adventurous trips and unpredictable turns. His instantly grooving house and techno is blended of different styles, ranging from funk and hip hop to rock and concrete music. His unique style comes from a very spontaneous and free-minded approach to electronic music, which can mainly find explanation in his musical roots and in 12 years of jazz, rock & funk guitar. The main influences affecting his electronic music output come from artists like Bruno Pronsato, Prefuse 73, Mathew Dear and Steve Reich, while sonic imagination and instinct to improvisation are among Sebastian's most exceptional qualities. As the world still has to discover the eccentric and devastating potential of his live performances, Sebastian has already played alongside artists like Matthew Dear, Bruno Pronsato, Italoboyz, Ekkohaus, Gummihz, Mark Henning, Cabanne etc.

Review In a fresh, light and nippy way Mr. Russell drums us out of the Indian summer into the Oriental autumn. Pipes of Pan prance above this cool Arab beat and take a rocking guitar line in between.
And because Germany becomes extremely cold these days, Fenou #9 heats up more pressing than its predecessors and warms us on top with a vocal taken from The Arabian Nights that crackles in our ears. The flip side shows more deepness and blows over a warm breeze of Spanish dance air on the guitar. Vocals whisper longingly above the drums, engrossed in thought far away at the seaside. With this record autumnal coldness is long forgotten and expelled.
